The Apple iPhone is one of the A-list celebrities of the technolust world. What other company continuously receives front-page real estate with sexy product shots after every new announcement? As such, we consider it an influential piece of society — which is why we’re happy to see rumors that Apple will be giving the new 2nd generation iPhone the (RED) treatment.
The (RED) campaign was co-founded by singer BONO to to raise awareness and money for The Global Fund by teaming up with the world’s most iconic brands. A percentage of each product sold goes towards helping women and children affected by HIV/AIDS in Africa.
Apple has released other iPod incarnations in the past with the (RED) color — so it’s not surprising to think it will happen with iPhone as well. The official announcement will drop Monday, June 9th. For some supposed leaked shots of the new phone, jump here.
