oprah composting

Judging by Oprah’s reaction to composting during her “Earth Day” special back in April, we’d be pretty shocked to see the famous host actually throwing scraps out at home. Julia Roberts we can see, but Oprah, nope.

Still, the 54-year old did some great promotion during her special of a bin called the Garden Gourmet. (Mmmm…) It has a small footprint and some great features like a dual access/snap shut lid, adjustable air vents, and a sliding bottom door for easy harvesting of finished compost. Sadly, unlike the show’s clear-back bin, we’re pretty sure the commercial version won’t let your friends see what’s cooking inside. Which is probably just as well…

So, if you can’t afford to dish out for Daryl Hannah’s $900 worm bin, this $89 composter should be a great substitute. Check it out here.
