We follow Radiohead a lot on the Razz — especially since they’re one of the more consistent and genuine groups when it comes to addressing their environmental footprint. Their latest attempt, however, to provide a little creative green incentive for their fans did not go as planned.
According to the UK Sun, Radiohead announced that for a Paris concert, they were placing up for grabs 50 free front row tickets. The only catch was that you had to arrive by bicycle to collect them from record label XL’s Paris office. In the end, however, only 15 fans bothered to take advantage of the two-wheel deal, which left 35 embarrassingly empty front row seats at the gig. Ouch.
Oh well, we still admire what these guys are doing — especially using their current world tour to highlight their commitment to green issues. Let’s hope the creative incentives to rock out while helping the planet don’t end with the French.
