Prince Charles And Camilla Move Into Their New Eco-Farmhouse

Where the deer and the antelope play.

June 24th 2008

Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles quietly took the wraps off of their new country residence yesterday — called Llwynywormwood Estates — and allowed the press to briefly tour the place.

While representatives of the newly restored farmhouse surrounded by 192 acres of organic farm and countryside would not say who the home belongs to, everyone else had a pretty good idea. Not to mention the three feathers crest of the Prince of Wales carved into Welsh slate above the fireplace. Or the eco washing powder on the kitchen draining board.

The Prince and Camilla intend to use the home as a base when visiting Wales. However, the home is also going to registered as a B&B — and will be rented for between $1200 and $2000 per week. Not a bad price for a countryside retreat and the opportunity to live like a King, er Prince. As we mentioned earlier, here are the deets on the green elements of the residence:

“Sewage will be recycled through a reed bed and guests will be able to dine on organic food with fruit and vegetables grown in the kitchen garden. Furniture will be made from oak and fir trees from the Royal landlord’s forests and underground tanks will collect rainwater. Heat from a woodchip burner will be conserved by insulating the building with hemp and sheep’s wool. The plans also include filling a lake from a stream in order to provide hydro-electric power.”

Nice. Additional details and photos available here.
