Dolly Parton Gets Cookin’ For A Good Cause

Filed under: books, campaigns, donations, food & drink — Michael Parrish DuDell @ 11:24 am

Here’s some news that will make the southerner in all ya’ll shout YEE-HAW! Dolly Parton has recently published Dolly’s Dixie Fixin’s, a new cookbook packed full of some of her favorite “down home” recipes. The good part about picking up the book (besides the challenge of veganizing almost all of the recipes), is that the proceeds will go to The Dollywood Foundation — an organization that supplies every child in various counties around the country with an age-appropriate book each month in the mail until the age of five.

About Dolly’s Dixie Fixin’s, Parton says: “I still like to try new foods as often as I can. But when it comes to cooking for myself and my husband Carl and my great big extended family, which numbers into the multiple hundreds these days, what we really want to eat is what comforts us most: good, hearty food rooted in Mama’s cooking and those country gatherings of my childhood. It’s the food from those Mom and Pop joints that welcome you in as if you’re family. We really just want food that is lovingly made and joyfully served up. Around here, that’s what we call Dixie Fixin’s.”

So whether you love yourself some chicken fried steak or you’re simply chompin’ at the bit to turn that into an kick-ass chikin’ fried seitan dish, pick yourself up Dolly’s cookbook and help a great organization!
