tommy lee house

Even though filming for Planet Green’s new show Battleground Earth has wrapped, it seems that rocker Tommy Lee is pretty keen to carry the green banner beyond the camera lens. What greater result could we possibly hope for?

We mentioned earlier that the 45-year-old musician was transitioning to a vegetarian lifestyle, but now he’s shed a bit more light on what’s happening on the homefront as well. “I’ve learned so much. I’m about to go solar and get totally off the grid,” he recently told Blender Magazine. “All the grass on my property is going to be replaced – this s**t, I’m telling you, it doesn’t smell, but it looks and feels exactly like real grass.”

“No watering, no pesticides or fertilizers. It’s insane.”

Taking a look at aerial photographs of Tommy’s house, it looks like that fake grass will save a great deal of water. The only thing I’m suspect of is the size of the array that will be needed to take his almost 9,000 square-foot home completely off-grid. I’m not saying it can’t be done, but it’s going to be a sizeable investment.

At least he’s got the roof space.

For all the people who thought his competition with Ludacris was a waste of time, this shows that he really did learn a lot from it and is now making the effort to take everything he learned and apply it in his everyday life. I’d be really interested to see how he will implement going completely off grid, because that is a massive home.

It’s great to hear- As a local kid who was hiting the clubs when TOmmy Lee started – I gotta say- go for it man!

If your people monitor these blogs Tommy, we are the largest manufacturer of synthetic landscape grass in the country- we’re in the Valley and we manufacture and install the coolest synthetic grass in the world- nothing like what you’ve seen- even that much better again than what’s on the football and soccer fields! We did the WYNN Hotel in las Vegas for example- and the Palms – lots of others as well.

If you need references and info on going solar too- we’ve got plenty of references from nearby projects.

Hey Duane, send me a sample, and the name of your Fairfield County dealer!

This said, maybe Tommy should also consider a vegetable garden, if he hasn’t thought about it already.

I’m not so sure Tommy Lee learned much from Battleground Earth. As far as his artificial lawn is concerned; aren’t plastics made from petroleum? Wouldn’t it be better to have grass, which breaths in carbon dioxide and produces oxygen? This show was supposed to inspire others to be green. Did the producers think that by having these two posers engaged in some silly competitions, while cheating and stealing from each other, would do that? Ludicris indeed!
