The Green Quote: Sheryl Crow Says Protect Wild Horses

“I think it will be a real shame when we look back and we don’t have these incredible species, and I guess my best hope would be that people, individuals, step up at this point and really protect these animals.”

dear ms crow, there are a number of thing that the BLM could use but the ranchers in the area are not keen on anything except reducing the population to non-existance, as they have approximately 4 million head of sheep and cattle on federal lands, i think the plan i put forth would take care of the problem, TO START WITH 1]let all the horses that are presently in holding pens because they are considered unadoptable loose, but before they do they need to practice birth control on the mares and geld most of the stallions unless they are above average specimans due to color or some other features, they are housing approximately 30,000 of these horses in these holding pens which take up most of the BLM’S budget for wild horses, doing this will cover the costs of the other things i propose, and nature will take care of horses that cannot survive due to being non healthy or some other defect, and people need to come off their high horses about keeping every animal alive, these horses started out as domestic animals and turned wild hundreds of years ago and that is the circle of life, not all will survive, 2]continue the roundups, but do not take horses older than yearlings, a foal 2 months old can be taken as long as it gets supplemental milk either formula or goats milk, this age of horses are far easier to adopt out and adapt far better than older animals, 3]during the roundups geld most of the stallions unless like i said they are outstanding in some way, you will never be able to round up all of the horses so there will still be foals to adopt, and give the mares birth control before these are turned back into the wild, REMOVE AT LEAST 100,000 CATTLE AND SOME SHEEP FROM FEDERAL LANDS AS I DON’T BELIEVE THOSE RANCHERS NEED ALL THOSE LIVESTOCK ON FEDERAL LANDS, AND 100,000 IS A DROP IN THE BUCKET COMPARED TO THE 4 MILLION RUNNING ON FEDERAL LANDS RIGHT NOW, it does not have to require veternarians to do the birth control on the stallions and mares, properly trained vet techs and vet students could accomplish this with no problem and it could be a requirement for completeing vet school, or money could be taken off their loans if they participate in the program, THE MAJORITY OF THE BLM’S BUDGET FOR THE WILD HORSE PROGRAM IS TIED UP WITH HOUSING HORSES IN THESE FACILITIES AS THEY ARE CONSIDERED UNADOPTABLE, AND THE MONEY THAT WOULD BE SAVED BY DISCONTINEING THIS WOULD COVER ALL THE OTHER EXPENSES THAT I PROPOSE WITH THIS PLAN THAT I HAVE, I THINK IT IS GOOD, REASONABLE, AND ASKING THE RANCHERS TO HAVE A LITTLE LESS STOCK ON FEDERAL LANDS IS NOT THAT BIG A PROBLEM, I READ WHAT 1 RANCHER HAD TO SAY ON THE NET ON ONE OF THESE STORIES, AND HE SAID HE WISHED THAT THEY WOULDN’T HAVE TO KILL THE HORSES BUT HE SAW NO OTHER WAY TO DO THINGS, WHAT A CROCK, THE RANCHERS HAVE A HUGE LOBBY AND IF THEY HAD THEIR WAY THEY WOULD KILL EVERYTHING RUNNING ON FEDERAL LANDS EXCEPT THEIR CATTLE AND SHEEP, SO THIS MUST BE PUSHED AND PUSHED OR THEY WILL CERTAINLY GET THEIR WAY AND THIS NATIONAL ICON WILL DISSAPPEAR TILL THERE ARE NONE LEFT
Looks like she just got off a big horse. LOL
I don’t know, I’m still mouth agape at the photograph!
