Amanda Peet Not So Concerned About Baby Vaccinations, Shuns Sunscreen
Filed under: babies and bumps — michael @ 9:32 am
Well, here’s a completely different take on the whole “green vaccines” issue. Actress Amanda Peet, who welcomed daughter Frances ‘Frankie’ Pen to the world 16 months ago, has done her research and is following a regular vaccination schedule for her baby. “There are a lot of misconceptions about the dangers of vaccinations,” the 36-year-old told Cookie magazine. “I found it to just be really sad that so much of the energy is being redirected to the association with vaccinations and autism and it’s taking away the money and the research that needs to go towards the real causes of autism.”
Now, I’m sure there are many of you out there that beg to differ, but Peet feels staggering vaccines or choosing some over others puts the children of other parents at risk. In fact, she’s recently agreed to film some PSAs for “Every Child By Two” — a group that seeks to raise parental awareness of the need for timely infant immunizations.
Oddly, Peet does shun suncreen. “I buy 99 percent organic food for Frankie, and I don’t like to give her medicine or put sunscreen on her. But now that I’ve done my research, vaccines do not concern me,” she says.
I’m light on the issue of babies and sunscreen - but I’m sure there are others that might fill me in. Have at it!

She didn’t research too thoroughly if she thinks that autism is the only thing to be concerned about with vaccination. I have an autistic child and I do not vaccinate. I don’t vaccinate because my son has autism, but because I feel that vaccines are unsafe and many of them are unnecessary.
I believe more children are being diagnosed with metabolic bone disease and they think it may be because parents use so much sunscreen their children aren’t able to absorb the vitamin D from sun exposure. I heard that second hand, so hopefully that is correct.
What a contrary message she’s sending! Feeding your kid healthier food doesn’t match up with not protecting them from UV radiation. I hope she doesn’t let Frankie spend much time in the sun, then — the risk of harm (like, y’know, cancer) from UV rays is way higher than the risk from sunscreens, and it’s not like there aren’t decent sunscreens on the market (although you do have to look a little harder to find them).

Good grief. Bet she got her vaccination info from the CDC. The same people who are calling “coincidence” the over 7,000 adverse incident reports (to include a climbing death rate) associated with the HPV vaccine.
Very disappointing, to say the least. And instead of not using sunscreen, a person can find a decent sunscreen like Amanda suggested and make sure to balance time in the sun with time in the shade. Neither of my children have been sunburned yet this season following this sort of routine - we spend the majority of our day outdoors and we live in Nevada.

I think that every parent needs to do their own research and make their own decision about what’s right for their child. I don’t think that the government should be telling us what is best (or having celebrities do it for them) for our kids as clearly every child is different. For god sakes, don’t just take some celebrity’s word for it. They get paid to do PSA’s.

Wow…a 16 month old… tons of parenting experience there… I hate to break it to her, but my parasitic children are healthier than virtually every vax’d child I know. And, statistically speaking, when they do get the flu or a bug, they got it from a fully vax’d child… go figure. One of my boys had a vax injury in Oct. 2005 and I stopped doing all vax…for all the boys. Its tough being a parasite, but I’ve gotta say that with everything else I have to deal with (my children all have special needs), I am finally comfortable with NOT vaxing…I was never fully comfortable doing so, and I feel that I’ve reached a good place with it now… Let us just be parasites… your kid is vax’d…what do you have to worry about? Except for vax injuries, heavy metal poisoning, cognitive regression, death….
The truth is somewhere in the middle, most likely. (And as usual.) Kids can probably benefit from some but not all of the recommended vaccination, and almost certainly not on the schedule that is presented as gospel by pediatricians. (A toddler who isn’t in daycare isn’t at high risk for HepB, KWIM?)
Similarly, kids can benefit from judicious use of sunscreen, particularly fair-skinned kids. But slathering them down with an hourly dose of SPF 80 even on cloudy days is as bad as never giving them any. Vitamin D deficiency is real, and has ramifications, and though foods, particularly milk (which is another iffy issue in itself) are fortified with it, the best way to get VitD is by getting some sun, on some bare skin, even a half-hour a day - without protectants.
Amanda Peet consulted with a Dr. who was instrumental in getting the rotovirus (flu) vaccine on the market & we all know how well that thing works! Obviously she didn’t go any further in her research as mentioned above. Besides for the possible connection between autism & vaccines, there are many other PROVEN side effects. If you look up the list of ingredients in any given vaccine on the market today, I don’t know anyone with a brain in their head could figure that putting that stuff into a child’s body, with their undeveloped immune systems, is a good idea! The FDA & the CDC are out to make MONEY. They aren’t interested in the welfare of our children or our country for that matter. How many medications have been withdrawn over the years? With the salmonella outbreak, the FDC gives their top dogs millions of dollars in bonuses! Aren’t they supposed to be PROTECTING our country from this kind of stuff?? Why are they getting bonuses for NOT doing their jobs? Because, it’s about the MONEY, not our health as a country. Pharma, FDA, CDC… they are FOR PROFIT companies. If they don’t keep us sick & keep us stupid (believing that the medications & vaccines they recommend with do anything other than make more people sick) then they are OUT OF BUSINESS! Adolf Hitler once said, “Tell a lie loud enough and long enough and people will believe it.” He also said, “What good fortune for those in power that the people do not think.”
That pretty much says it all….
What a moron! Come on! Talk about sticking your head in the sand. Well, there is another celebrity I have lost respect for. I have no problem with people vaccinating their kids, it is a personal choice (I do not vaccinate mine), but I do have a problem with a person not researching at all, beyond the CDC website & their pro-vax doc, and then spewing off things as fact that are clearly not.
“It is better to keep your mouth shut and appear and fool, than to open it, and prove you are a fool.” Time to boycott everything Amanda Peet. Great to live in a country where you can speak you mind. I love the fact that all it takes is time to find out who the truely ignorant are. Sad that they are given a platform because they are actors. I would like to see her try to be a Teacher in todays society, or any other “real” job. I have seen her act, she might have studied at the Rosanne Barr acting institute Celebrity gives many of them the feeling of supiority that is totally unfounded. Do your research before you drink the Kool-ade. Just because Jimmy Jones say it good, don’t make it good.
Interesting that this is the only way a grade B actress like herself can even attract any attention..by speaking about things that she has no knowledge of. As a mother of twins, one of whom has autism, I wish I had done more research before subjecting my preemie babies to the onlslaught of vaccinations that out corrupt, for profit government decided I should. Interestingly, Frankie is only 16 months old and most of us didn’t notice symptoms till out kids were 24-36 months old. Would be interesting to hear her perspective if her little Frankie disappeared into the world of autism in the next year or so.
The symptoms of mercury poisoning are nearly identical to the symptoms of autism.
Vaccines have contained mercury/thimerosal. No one is disputing this.
http://www.fda.gov/cber/vaccine/thimfaq.htm#q1
Mercury/thimerosal has been removed from many vaccines (though I have not heard of any program to collect any previously manufactured, distributed and yet-to-be-used vaccines).
It is quite easy for the parent of a typical child to justify the decision to vaccinate.
Personally, I would feel much gratitude for every small effort from these parents to understand the perspective of a parent, like myself, who had to face autism and everything that goes along with it. Of course I had to look at vaccinations differently.
Wouldn’t you?
Although thimerosal has been removed from most vaccines for several years, the number of cases of autism continues to rise at the exact same rate. If vaccines were the cause, the rates of autism cases would have gone down. The fact is we don’t know what causes autism, but we DO know that it is not from the thimerosal in vaccines. For those of you who discredit the findings of the CDC and the FDA because they are shills for the drug companies, what about all the grad students around the world, who’s studies have the same results.
Also, tens of thousands of children around the world die every year from polio, small pox and other preventable diseases because their irresponsible parents are too religious, superstitions or paranoid to have their children vaccinated.
“If you look up the list of ingredients in any given vaccine on the market today, I don’t know anyone with a brain in their head could figure that putting that stuff into a child’s body, with their UNDEVELOPED IMMUNE SYSTEMS, is a good idea!”
What do you think the vaccines are for, exactly? How do you think the immune system develops? Exposure to disease. Better to be exposed to a severely weakened form of a given bug, to give the “undeveloped immune system” a fighting chance, surely.
Also, to the people who have said they don’t want to vaccinate their children: good luck getting them through school. Many school districts do require that a child have their shots in order before entering a given grade. If you’re willing to homeschool or send your child to a private school or something, that’s your business. Would that I had that much disposable income with which to ruin my child’s social life. No one I have ever known who attended private school and then went to public school has said anything positive about the private school.
To Tar: Actually, they CAN get through school. The government doesn’t want you to know, but their are religious exemption forms that can be filled out and notarized and you don’t have to get your child vaccinated. I’m only 20 but I know several adults who have NOT had their children vaccinated and they are not dying of smallpox and polio and the like. They are very healthy and are IN SCHOOL. Just an FYI, there was a study done that showed that polio cases had gone down about 80% BEFORE vaccines were introduced.

The vaccine movement is hindered by all the misinformation. A lot of that misinformation has been repeated on this thread. It’s sad and scarry that people think that the “gubmn’t” is out to get them or spreading lies for some unknown agenda. GET REAL! Conspiracies are bull and anyone not getting vaccines is taking a great risk and putting others at risk.
I am with andy. Where I live we had several cases of whooping cough at my kids’ elementary school. For real, we were sent home letters.
I kind of feel the same way about this that I do about taxes. I may not love it or think the process is perfect, but the end goal is to keep people safe and healthy. The slight chance that my child will have a negative or life-threatening reaction to a vaccine is overridden by what is the greater good for my community. It is my responsibility.
The majority of parents who get their kids vaccinated are really what is keeping the unvaccinated kids healthy…and polio, measles, whooping cough etc. at bay. Just like people who pay their taxes keep the roads safe for the all drivers who don’t.
As concerned parents, we have been researching the safety and effectiveness of vaccines for many months. Last night we participated in a presentation were the speaker was one of my favorite researchers and authors on the topic. Neil Z. Miller is medical research journalist and natural health advocate. He is the author of numerous articles and books on vaccines, and is the director of the Think Twice Global Vaccine Institute. He has a degree in psychology (with an emphasis on statistical analysis) and is a member of Mensa.
The presentation last night was about two hours and only touched the surface on the extensive amount documented data he has discovered through government, medical and scientific journals. He started researching vaccines before his son was born over 23 years ago. What began as a parental endeavor for information turned into a public awareness crusade.
He tells us most of the vaccine information that the public is told is misinformation and propaganda. Accurate data is not released through regular media outlets.
During the presentation they polled the audience on various questions. We learned that the U.S. has more vaccinations than any other country in the world and we also have the 42nd worst infant mortality rate in the world.
Dr. Baylock, a well known neurosurgeon has documented damage in children’s brains due to toxic overload from vaccines.
The “idea” that vaccines will keep our children safe is like playing russian roulette. Miller advocates parents being fully informed and know that they have freedom of choice, especially when it comes to the health and well being of their children. “Don’t count on your doctors to give you all he information.” Miller warns. He suggests looking at each vaccine independently and that is exactly was he has presented for all people in his book: Vaccine Safety Manual for Concerned Families and Health Practitioners.
We live in a pill popping society where there is a drug for every ailment, but we have more chronic conditions and diseases than we have ever had before. Drug companies continue to make drugs and vaccine manufacturers will continue to make vaccines. They will put pressure on the FDA to say that they are safe and the CDC to recommend them to the schedule. Currently families that follow the recommended schedule are giving their children 36 drugs by 18 months of age. “We are injecting healthy people with unhealthy substances.” Miller said.
Miller says, “There are more vaccines in the pipeline”. The next big push is for adolescent and adults vaccines, even vaccines for those with addictions. There are no studies done on combination vaccines and how they react with one another. Not to mention any reactions with other environmental, drug or food chemicals or toxins.
“This is not hearsay. I have documented all of this information.” Miller says. The FDA and CDC have a 12-15 member panel. The FDA determines what will be licensed and the CDC will then recommend it to the schedule.
Congressmen Dan Burton held congressional hearings to investigate these committees. There were clear conflicts of interest including, members that owned stock or patent to a vaccine or they were paid consultants to the vaccine manufactures.
In June of 2000 there was a ‘secret’ meeting of top officials from Big Pharma, FDA and CDC. There they discussed the evidence that vaccines were harmful and instead of alerting parents they spent the rest of the weekend on how they were going to cover it up. Robert Kennedy Jr wrote and article about this story for Rolling Stone in 2005. Click here to read article.
Miller also addressed some common questions including mercury being removed from vaccines. In 1999 AAP said mercury was going to be removed from vaccines; however it was not required for the current stock of vaccines to be returned or destroyed. Three years later to balance that out, it was mandated that children get multiple flu vaccines that had high concentrations of mercury (thimerisol the chemical that contains 50% mercury).
Many parents choose to space out vaccines or create their own schedule. Miller thinks there may be some merit to it. He gave a drinking analogy. The reactions are different if you have shot after shot of tequila or have 1 tequila shot that night out with your friends. He still warns that if you decided to space out or do single shots the vaccines still come with significant reactions. There is no testing or screening to know if a child has a predisposition or may have a reaction.
We do know that more and more children are having reactions and autism is on the rise. The good news is for parents that choose not to vaccinate there are either religious or philosophical exemptions available.
Miller tells us that Autism rates surpasses cancer, diabetes and AIDS combined. This is a true epidemic. He also mentions the flu statistics are false. “More people die in this country from asthma and malnutrition than the flu.” Miller also spoke of the link between vaccines and asthma, mercury and autism but was very clear that mercury is not the only problem. “All of this information is documented information,” he repeats.
We are conditioned to believe that vaccines are safe and vaccines are effective. If this was true children would not be having reactions and dying and people that were vaccinated would not get the disease. This is clearly not the case.
Another astounding bit of information was about the Polio Vaccine. There is an industry that raises monkeys and then kills them to use their kidneys to develop the polio vaccine.
Monkeys carry several viruses and one in particular, SV-40 is known to cause cancer. Numerous people were infected and cancer rates have increased 20-30% around the world.
This virus is also transmitted similarly to AIDS.
The Vaccine Safety Manual is the world’s most complete guide to immunization risks and protection. It includes pertinent information on every major vaccine: polio, tetanus, MMR, hepatitis A, B, HPV (cervical cancer), Hib, Flu, chickenpox, shingles, rotavirus, pneumococcal, meningococcal, RSV, DTaP, anthrax, smallpox, TB, and more. All of the information, including detailed vaccine safety and efficacy data, is written in an easy-to-understand format, yet includes more than 1,000 documented citations. More than 75 charts, graphs and illustrations supplement the text. This encyclopedic health manual is an important addition to every family’s home library and will be referred to again and again.
My baby and I were injured last year by vaccines. So much for that crap about 1 in a million. It will be a cold day in hell before I am forced to vaccinate myself or loved ones again. By the way, don’t you think it is quite convenient that researchers never test people for the strain of virus they are carrying during these outbreaks? That is because it would linked to the vaccines in current use. Just take a look at the package inserts for live-virus vaccines. You are contagious for up to 6 weeks according to the manufacturers. They also don’t know if they cause cancer, alter your DNA or impair your fertility because they never studied it. Nice, huh? Well, I know that vaccines do all three just based on the ingredients.
