Gisele Bundchen Wants To Save The Planet

So supermodel Gisele Bundchen is featured in and on the cover of the new issue of V Magazine, and while she sports some very interesting shorts, it’s what’s inside the magazine that is most interesting. I guess you should never judge a book by its cover.

A choice excerpt from her ‘revealing’ interview:

“I have a line of flip-flops in Brazil [with Ipanema], and in the last three years we’ve been donating proceeds to protect local water sources and replant forests. Look, I have a huge concern for so many other things going on in the world. I paid for a study about violence that is being edited into a book at the end of the year; we researched for three and a half years with fifty sociologists. While everyone is going around saying crazy things about my life I’m concerned with the destruction of our planet. Why don’t they talk about that? Or, forget about what I’m doing altogether, why don’t they talk about what’s going on in the environment in these magazines?”

I think it is great when a celeb decides to take charge and bite the hand that feeds it. Maybe more people in a position of notoriety will take a stand.

    I think it’s pretty funny that she’s indignant about people focusing on her life and looks, while displaying her butt on a magazine cover. Hello! She sounds quite bitter, which isn’t helping things. But it’s good that she’s committed to helping the environment nonetheless.

    There’s a lot to be bitter about… Beauty wants the perks of sex symbolism, without any of the luring, drooling, and cat calls that come along with it. Look, admire, revere, but don’t touch… inhibit your knee jerk reaction to stay safe distance… and pay me $25.000 a day for the privilege… imagine, it’s not an easy thing to negotiate for a mind, any mind… when your body becomes the product. It’s about time she got involved rather than lounge around nesting while Neanderthal runs around trying to put out her fire. Ah, needs and desires, so complex. She had more than one opportunity to talk about green things the many, many years she’s been on all these talk shows… She opted not to, kept silent, let Leo grab all the green public image. She’s a princess in Brazil, with a twin sister there… Her country is cutting down the rainforest for ethanol cane and fast food cows… Glad to finally have her on board! And yes, love her derriere!
