Matthew McConaughey Makes It A Sad Day for PETA Ladies Everywhere

Filed under: animals, green and famous — alli @ 10:22 am

Matthew McConaughey has taken a gig promoting beef for the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA). When I first heard about the radio spot, I considered it a non-story. After all, McConaughey has garnered much attention for attributes not easily captured in a radio spot. I even wondered why the NCBA had wasted its money. But then I listened to the spot [Warning: what you are about to hear may be damaging if you are attempting a meatless diet].

Thank god they have the annoying little beef music at the end to pull you out of that BBQ trance he puts you in. My favorite line? “A neighbor is just a friend you haven’t fed yet.”

Despite the fact that you never actually see the buff spokesman, the NCBA is hoping you think of that well-chiseled physique. A spokeswoman for the organization said:

We are certain once consumers hear it, they will recognize the new voice for its endearing quality and it will reinforce their passion for beef and the protein body benefits it provides.

Right–I am quite certain Hollywood gets its figure from three-a-day steak meals.
