I would think the top "Green" celebs should be people who consistently set an example for the masses by making eco-friendly lifestyle changes. Supporting a benefit for the rainforest, while a wonderful cause, does not make her a top Green celeb, IMHO. I just have to agree that I haven't seen WHY she is worthy of an Eco-Celeb award...(I mean, if there's info about her we don't know re: solar panels, recycling, yada...)

Damn Michael, I think you and the Material Girl need to sit down and have a heart to heart talk... Not that it makes much difference, because sometimes people do the right thing for all the wrong reasons, but back in 1990, when few people really cared all that much,or realized the consequeces, Madonna and Christie Brinkley got together to host a series of benefits for Don't Bungle The Jungle in a desperate, and now evidently failed attempt at saving the Brazilian rainforest... They preceeded Sting and the Grateful Dead in this effort... who is talking about the lungs of the planet now? Some hope, wrongly, that lumping everything in with carbon footprint will unify and solve the energy crisis... it won't... what it has done is paint the nuclear power industry green, because even though they may not produce all that much CO2 in day to day operations, the production and byproducts of its fuel is the most toxic substance on Earth, a much worse long term problem than any slight increase in CO2 levels. If Madonna came out as being anti-nuclear, advocating the shut down of Indian Point, which is what any New Yorker should do, then we might actually stand a chance. She wrapped herself in the flag for Rock The Vote, but didn't even register. She's a performer, not a politician... she's a public figure, not a deep thinker. It's the people around her, if there's such a thing. I hope she reads this.
