I recommend the DIRTY JOBS episode "Brown Before Green," where he rounds up some of the most interesting and environmentally friendly jobs he's been on. From drilling for geothermal energy to heat and cool a new housing project, to building a house with mud (and of course poo! this is DIRTY JOBS after all) to really neat things like guys who are diving to retrieve logs cut 140 years ago and are still intact! There are a lot of innovators out there digging in the brown to make some green.
