Heather Mills To Make Appearance At The Animal Rights 2008 National Conference
Filed under: animals, events, events: DC, green and famous — parrish @ 12:24 pm
Go get your calender…I’ll wait. OK, got it? Great, now turn to August 14th-18th. What does it say? If you have scribbled down anything OTHER than “Attend Animal Rights 2008 National Conference in Washington D.C” erase it immediately and write in your new plans!
In just two weeks the world’s largest and oldest animal rights conference will be held in our nations capitol, and trust me you don’t want to miss it! Like every year, the conference line-up boasts a slew of incredible speakers, including author Karen Dawn (who Ecorazzi will spotlight later this month) Saurabh Dalal from the International Vegetarian Union, Mike Hudak from the Sierra Club (our charity of the month) and that famous face you no doubtably feel strongly about one way or the other…Heather Mills. (For the record I’m on Team Heather.)
The conference will feature 90 speakers from 60 animal protection groups in 9 countries, presentations on whale wars and effects of global warming, celebrity & activist awards and about a bazillion other really exciting activities. Also…did I mention I’d be there!
That’s right! On August 16th and 17th I’ll be bringing you the latest in green gossip from Washington D.C as I peruse the show with my fancy, schmancy press pass. So get a group of your coolest friends together and carpool on over to the Hilton Mark Center sometime between August 14th-18th to join in on all the fun! To learn more or purchase tickets visit arconference.org. See ya at the show!

Um… yeah. I’ll be there looking for green-living advice from that shrewish harpie for sure. Ahimsa starts by treating the people around you with basic courtesy, babe.
Regardless … I’m looking forward to the conference!
Greg- Fan or not, don’t let Heather scare you off. She’s merely accepting an award for her activism. Check out the site to learn more about all the other speakers! It looks like it’s gonna be pretty frigin great!
Tracy- SEE YA THERE!
Heather Mills has done more to turn people OFF of animal rights than any person alive. With the possible exception of those Consumer Freedom nutjobs who keep lobbing word-grenades at PETA.
Seriously, that business about drinking rat’s milk? And that fur coat she keeps wearing just because it belonged to her mum?

I’m so through with her. I know Paul McCartney lacks for nothing in this world, but he deserves a Purple Heart.
Greg- OK, OK…all of that is totally valid. I just hope you don’t let the presence of one person stop you from hearing all the other wonderful speakers. But I get it. She’s not for everyone and that’s cool!
Wow - A well respected judge found no evidence of charity donations on her tax returns. The judge also found her to be a liar and a fraud. She tried to ruin the father of her child with lies. In doing so she has proven herself to be a bad mother. She has told horrible lies about several other people too. Yet this group sees fit to give her an award for her animal activism? People are animals too. Everytime she opens her mouth she puts her foot in it.The only time she does “charity” work is if she can get her face in the paper or TV. She is repulsive to anyone who is serious about charity. I can only assume she brought the author of this article on her recent high price vacation.
She’s not for everyone????? That’s quite an understatement. Not for anyone, more like it. (except parrish apparently)
Yowzers! OK, OK people. I’m not a Heather Mills expert here, but I do appreciate how actively pro-veg she is and when I met her at the Farm Sanctuary event she was nice to me. That’s all. I’m gonna try to sit down for a chat with her at the show and I’ll report on my findings then! PROMISE!!
When will these charities realize that she is a detriment to their causes, and not an asset? Myself and many others immediately distrust any charity affiliated with her. Not that we each have
many millions to contribute, but there are so many of us out here cancelling their small and medium-sized contributions that it will make a huge difference after a while. I absolutely refuse to give anything to a charity that is paying for her trip here, accommodations, etc, all 1st class. A friend recently volunteered for a time in Cambodia helping children through surgeries on minefield limbs. Every MD, nurse, and anyone else volunteering paid for their own airfares, accommodations, food, etc. They did not want to hold any $ back from the kids. Funny though, when HM travels anywhere she demands and demands and demands, feeling that she should make $ by just appearing somewhere. Hope they have vomitoriums strategically placed around the lecture hall when she speaks…
Any group or organizaton that partners with this fraudalent woman deserves disdain.
Parrish,
I won’t lie to you. I can’t stand that woman (and the foot in mouth comment that Marie made was pretty darn funny -whether an intentional pun or not)
Believe me I tried to like her for so long. A fellow tall blonde vegan who supposedly cares about animals and even helps PETA out. But after I’d read in the news (what Marie mentions above) about her actually NOT donating any money and then throwing a pitcher of cold water of Paul’s attorneys head in court?! That’s just unacceptable. (oh and then not giving that poor Russian girl with no leg(s) the money she’d promised her-also in the media) I think we’d be better off without her in our movement at all. I really do.
I am glad she was kind to you Parrish. I hope we are wrong about her. I want to see good and beauty in people. Especially women in the eco/vegan/health movement but I’m thinking the beauty isn’t really there. she’s ugly
I don’t care about her past in porn http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/article50770.ece I DO however hate to be duped by someone who I thought might be good for the movement (and the dear sweet Paul McCartney!) who turns out to have been bad for everyone
Let us know how the interview goes Parrish. I truly hope she turns a new leaf. People can change. Let’s hope she’s not ALL evil.

My instinct about the woman is dhe doesn`t even particularly like animals! She hadn`t even heard of animal rights before she met McCartney and now she is Queen Vegan! It`s the only way she`s got left of getting publicity. Any animal group on “Team Heather” (ugh!) instantly loses credibility. Poor animals.
I used to be vegan until I heard that Heather Mills was. Not that I really believe she is, but it turned me off, and scared me away, although I remain veggie. The fear of turning into an evil, vindictive, ugly woman, full of hatred and scorn for anything other than herself. She is proven in a court of law to be a liar. Sure she smiles and is nice until you find out about her. Then she turns on you. It is the way she hooks people. She does nothing for ‘the cause’ except turn people away. Not to mention she donates nothing but her presence which is not bringing in the dollars anymore. If this organization was stupid enough to pay her expenses how do you expect people to contribute? Get a sincere person, not a poser.
Parrish - Don’t be fooled by her being nice to you for a few minutes. Anyone can be nice that long, especially if they are the center of attention. That is what her real “charity” is - herself getting attention. It was not that long ago that she said on Larry King that she no longer accepted awards - she made sure they went to others. Another lie perhaps? Her behavior when the spotlight is not on her is more important to me and speaks volumes about her. She is a fraud and a liar according to the judge’s findings. Her behavior towards people is disgusting. If she is caught in a lie (which is sadly very often) she attacks others and tries to smear them with more lies. That is not a good person. She is only doing this “I love animals” act becasue it is the only place she can currently get attention. Having her be part of a charity is my first indication that my money would be of better use elsewhere.
May I ask, are her expenses being paid for her to attend this function?
she did not start becoming an advocate for animals until after she was married to Paul. So if you think her work deserves merit, it’s Paul McCartney you should thank with an award. He and his family for decades have tried to protect animals. Ms. Mills, only for a few years. How does she deserve an award. This must be an insult to many that actually devote much of their lives to this cause. A cause is only as good as the people who represent it.
It’s sad when reputable organisations feel they have to link their names with someone like her. I’d be interested to know how much they’re paying her to go along.
[...] Kristin is a long-time animal supporter and as many of you pointed out in the comment section of my Heather Mills story, humans are animals too! So if you DO eat dairy then why not stop by Red [...]
I will never even consider giving money to any organization that she is involved with. What’s more, that organization will lose all credibility with me. The evidence, including her own public behavior and statements, that she is not a good person is simply overwhelming.
If she wants to convince people that she really is a good person, she needs to stay out of the spotlight for a few years and work at actually becoming a good person. Otherwise, it’s just more lies and spin and PR. But that’s the problem. She can’t bear being out of the spotlight. She seems to have an insatiable need for attention and acclaim. I have no doubt that is what is driving her efforts in animal rights.
