The mecca of all things teen and tween – the Teen Choice Awards turned a shade greener this year, by escorting several famous teen dreams to the big show in an eco-friendly car, the Volkswagon Jetta TDI.

Fox televised the ceremony and partnered with VW to promote the 2009 Jetta TDI Clean Diesel, which uses high-performance, low-sulfur diesel fuel. Yes, this means lower emissions and particulates, but zowie the cost of diesel is outrageous and the mpg is only rated at 30 city/41 highway! At least this is better than hauling everyone around in gas-sucking stretch limos.

Katharine McPhee, Jordin SparksChace Crawford, and other stars arrived in the green machine and signed a car hood which will be auctioned off to benefit City of Hope, a cancer research, treatment, and education center. Earlier in the year Ecorazzi reported that a bevy of teen stars participated in the Chevy Rocks The Future event to show their support for hybrid living. Isn’t it time you went green? Come on, all the cool kids are doing it!
