High School Musical’s Monique Coleman Teams Up With America’s Second Harvest

August 6th 2008

The end of summer is approaching and that means (for those under about 18) it’s time to head back to school!! Ah, how I miss the days of getting those HUGE supply lists from school and going to my local super-super store to purchase a brand new Batman lunchbox.  But forget about the lunchbox…what about those who can’t afford the lunch?

Monique Coleman wants to help put an end to childhood hunger and so on Tuesday she joined America’s Second Harvest and ConAgra Foods Foundation to hand out her exclusive “Fight Childhood Hunger” lunch bag to children in need.  The bag was designed by Coleman herself as part of a national retail campaign benefiting America’s Second Harvest.

Coleman said, “Kids are getting ready to head back to school and it’s important to ensure that they have full stomachs with the balanced meals they need to reach their full potential. I hope our efforts today inspire kids across the country to organize their own food drives to help hungry kids.”

And hungry kids there are! According to a recent article in the New York Times, food banks across the United States are experiencing a supply shortage that is being considered the worst in 26 years! To find out how you can help stop this growing problem, visit SecondHarvest.org!
