Actress Roseanne Barr has gone on the warpath against actress Angelina Jolie and Jon Voight regarding their political opinions.

In her latest blog entry (and seriously, this woman blogs a lot!), the 55-year-old slams Voight for his critiques of Barack Obama, calling the actor “a frightened little girl in a pink ballet tutu, who acts like Obama just wandered in from the rain forest with a bone thru his nose and a communist pamphlet in his loincloth.” Back in July, Voight wrote an op-ed piece for the Wasington Post in which he said, “God forbid, we live to see Mr. Obama president, we will live through a socialist era that America has not seen before, and our country will be weakened in every way.”

Barr also attacked Angelina Jolie, and her husband Brad Pitt, after the actress revealed recently that she hadn’t really made up her mind yet in terms of supporting McCain or Obama. “I am waiting to see the commitments they will make on issues like international justice, refugees and how to address the needs of children in crisis around the world,” she said.

Roseanne’s response? “Aren’t you supposed to be somewhat enlightened, or do you not know that the african daughter you hold in every picture had parents who suffered and died because of the republican party’s worldwide economic assault on africa over the last few decades since reagan? Angelina Jolie and her vacuous hubby Brad Pitt make about forty million dollars a year in violent psychopathic movies and give away three of it to starving children trying to look as if they give a crap about humanity as they spit out more dunces that will consume more than their fair share and wreck the earth even more. (just sayin’).”

Whoa — want to read the rest?

“Jon Voight is a frightened little girl in a pink ballet tutu, who acts like Obama just wandered in from the rain forest with a bone thru his nose and a communist pamphlet in his loincloth. The neocons who own jon voight and make him dance on the chabad telethons are the worst most elitist people on earth. glen beck and jon voight are their bitches… both of them are used tampons who must be flushed down the toilet immediately! jon voight your evil spawn angelina jolie and her vacuous hubby brad pitt make about forty million dollars a year in violent psychopathic movies and give away three of it to starving children trying to look as if they give a crap about humanity as they spit out more dunces that will consume more than their fair share and wreck the earth even more. (just sayin’).
Also miss jolie says she likes mccain too and hasn’t decided who to endorse….huh? Aren’t you supposed to be somewhat enlightened, or do you not know that the african daughter you hold in every picture had parents who suffered and died because of the republican party’s worldwide economic assault on africa over the last few decades since reagan? whaaaa…??????!!!! (for that matter, the thai and vietnamese sons you are photo’d with weekly too!!!? who’s pictures you sell to raise money to help the poor? Their families are victims of America’s right wing military incursions too. Mccain wants to continue with the idea of war for profit…the americans are over that thinking now! They have drugged our troops and lower classes into supporting their oil business atrocities for long enough. We want to save not lose our souls thank you. Now go back to making your movies about women who love to handle big guns that shoot hundreds of people to death. Ps….it might be good for your asian and african children’s self esteem to know you support a brown man for the leader of the free world.)”

um… wow. there are no words… well, maybe there are but where to begin. i am usually annoyed with roseanne but i did have to go “hmm” for a hot minute there.

  • Erin Fox

I agree, it is odd that Angelina’s movie choices do not really reflect messages that are in line with her activist side. (besides “A Mighty Heart”)

  • Emmieb

Ok – first, I <3 Angelina Jolie and I’ve always been irritated by Roseanne Barr. So this is where I’m coming from.

While she does have a few valid points regarding her movie choices — it’s not as if RB is, herself, making movies/tv shows that change the world. She’s a comedienne. She makes (some) people laugh. But I can name a number of movies done by Angelina Jolie that are meant to teach/enlighten (Beyond Borders, A Mighty Heart, The Good Shepard). So she makes action movies? So what. It’s entertainment. It was during Tomb Raider that she became aware of the world outside America and started acting on it.

What really got me about this was the name calling – vacuous? Are you in a pissing contest or do you have an actual complaint?

I fully endorse Obama and I agree with RB that a McCain term would be full of War-For-Profit (this stuff in Russia has WW written all over it) and so I do agree with some of the sentiment behind her trying to get AJ and BP to see the harm in electing McCain.

I do not agree with the way she’s gone about it.

And if she cares so much, why isn’t she standing in front of Congress or the UN pleading with them to do something about the atrocities in the world? The don’t make you a UN Ambassador for “appearing to give a damn.”

Name-calling certainly isn’t the way to go about change in my book… but in response to “what does Roseanne do to change the world?”, the answer would have to be a lot.

She changed the image of the modern woman on television and created a whole television series based on feminism; challenged stereotypes against women, people who are overweight, the working class, single moms, gays, etc.; tackled subjects like abortion, lesbianism, domestic violence, etc. when any other series was too afraid to do so; she’s gone on talk shows, political shows, etc. to express concern about poverty, politics, etc.; I could probably go on. She’s also worked with ACORN, Comic Relief (of course), the Trevor Project, started the Rosanne Barr Foundation to help people in need, etc.

She really has crafted her career around most of her causes, so caustic or not (and like I said, verbal abuse isn’t exactly the way to go about making change happen!), I think she really has “walked her talk” for most of her public career. =)

  • Texas111

Rosanne is insignificant! She’s a loud mouth looking for publicity. How conveniently she forgets the $14 million (plus 3 more) they gave to charity for pics of their children. It’s no ones business how one decides to vote! I despise this woman with a passion. Vietnam was during a Democratic presidency – Nixon (Republican) ended it! Read (or rather know) your history. What a b**ch!!

  • Emmieb

I didn’t say she didn’t do anything – in fact I looked up her charities before I posted. I was more making the point that UN and Congress don’t let just anyone have floor time. I’m sure if Roseanne asked for it she’d get it – and it would be more effective than venting on a blog.

I also HATE to see people who are doing good – even a relatively small amount – be attacked when they put one toe out of line.

  • Run-DMS

Overall, I’m with the loud annoying comedian on this one. Supporting McSame would be a very stupid thing for someone who professes to care about the world to do. This should be a no-brainer for Jolie.
As for Mr. Voight … his op-ed piece in the Moonie Times showed incredible ignorance. He’s a total write-off.

  • michael

I agree. I applaud Jolie for remaining objective and wanting to learn more about each candidate — but McCain seems like a dinosaur of the last 8 years. Obama is true change. How hard is that to see?

And yes, Voight’s comments are more scare-tactics from the dying conservative right desperately attempting to cling to the mangled mess of the Bush administration. Ridiculous.

I only take issue with Barr’s attack on Jolie and Pitt’s charity work. I agree with Emmie that such criticism is a bit much for all the good these two have done for others.

  • VeggieTart

I haven’t had a chance to read all of what Roseanne Barr has said, but I have to say that while her criticism of Jolie is justified, the manner is not. Look, I don’t expect anyone to automatically endorse Obama, but had Angelina Jolie said she was torn between Obama and, say, a third-party candidate, that might not have caused such outrage.

  • bistro 6

She wouldn’t know or have heard of a warpath. She’s quite another thing. Barr hates America, and Angie is an American who has a part time home in France, one of Americas longest allies. So it all comes from there.

  • frknrcn

You’re all a bunch of brain washed left wing retards (possibly from all the drugs you’ve all done in you’re lives).

  • jenniiku

to be fair, for celebs people might think they don’t deserve money. well for great actors such as pitt, jolie, aniston, kidman , clooney , depp and dicaprio. they actaully do deserve it, they work hard, waking up 3 in the morning without sleep and putting up with insults from others and magazines just to give us movies to watch. i bet all you guys say you hate celebs and pitt and jolie when you watch their movies. when you do a good job you get good money just like doctors, lawyers and great actors/actresses! just becuz they make more money then others doesn’t mean they don’t deserve it. people who can act so powerful and great is a talent, making the audience believe what their feeling on screen is something hard to do and to inspire. to be honest, you guys might think oh i hate to be a celeb and get rich. but when you actually are famous and get rich you don’t think that anymore, becuz so long as your living the dream and giving your money to your parents. so never judge upon people just becuz they are rich. my aunty was poor and struggled to survive when she was a child, but she built her own company in china and she started with a cent. now she’s rich and loaded and i must say she deserves it.

  • jenniiku

and also atleast out of all celebs pitt and jolie are giving their money away to the ones who needs it the most unlik herself (RB) is not even doing anything. with her complaint and spending time on her blog, she could’ve accomplished so much to change the world then bitch slapping pitt and jolie! it’s not like RB giving her money away to ppl. so what ppl make violent films that has nothing to do with her own personality. daniel radcliffe plays harry potter in his movies, does that mean he’s an actual wizard and has magic powers? as you see, just becuase they both do some violent action films it doesn’t mean they are violent! if rb is going to insult all great a type actors on doing violent action films she might as well not be a celeb herself. she made it clear that celebs like jolie are selfish, well RB is one herself. and making more money than all of us non celeb ppl. what point is she making? damn hypocrite

  • mid pittman

people like roseanne don’t have enough to do with time. I say let people alone, everyone has some one they don’t like but not everyone is as ignorant and ile mouthed as roseanne. i didn’t like her in her tv shows and i think she is childish for her ranting about people that she is undoubtedly jealous of. get a real life roseanne.

  • VeggieTart

frknrcn–at least I know that “brainwashed” is one word, that “left-wing” is hyphenated when it precedes a noun, and the difference between “you’re” (a contraction for “you are”) and “your” (the second-person possessive pronoun).

  • MyEyeIsOnYou

Too much time on ones hand

  • J.H.H.

The basic complaint here on RB’s part is that she detests the fact that this couple have not committed or may not ever commit to the candidate of her choice. To which I say to RB: that is why the USA is a democracy, each citizen is allowed to vote how he/she choses and no one should be attacked because of it. One person, one vote. Shut up and vote, RB, and let everyone else vote as they will. Then let the votes be added up. End of harrassment.

  • Iusedtobeafan

1st of all it is none of RB’s business how much money these 2 make or give. I certainly cannot afford to give a MERE 3 mil. Secondly, in this country there is a reason that there are curtains on the voting booths. I don’t care if they say they are voting for this one or that one, because they have the right to vote for the candidate they want. I am a huge Obama fan but if he started talking about things I didn’t agree with I would/could change my mind. That is my business. As far as the movie rolls– anyone remember the worst episode of the Roseanne show where she and fam. were on a train and she became a gun-toking superwoman. Grow up Rosie. I don’t care for how they got together because Brad was married but together they do alot of good. Rosie needs to up her meds.

  • Vern

How hard is it to see true change with Obama?!? Are you kidding? What has he done? All talk and not a damn thing to show for it! He wants to SOCIALize medicine. What part of this don’t you kool-aid drinkers get? This is how SOCIALism will begin to take over in this country. He wants to raise taxes in a week economy. People will stop spending even more, and that spells Recession. He wants to solve the gas problem by telling us to inflate our tires, and keep depending on terrorist supporting countries oil.
He thinks he can just sit down and talk to our terrorist enemies and work things out. Have you people seen how these idiots deal with people that don’t agree with them? They cut their heads off, and put it on the internet for intimidation (Google it, the videos are out there). Don’t you think it’s ironic the muslin extremists WANT Obama in office because he is so soft. Why do you think that is? I work for the government, and I see a lot of things the general public don’t see, and they are not looking for a nice talk with a campfire, and marshmallows!
Obama is a groomed puppet. How did he get where he is? He has done absolutely nothing! Jon Voight is correct in his ties with the extremist thugs he mentioned.
I can do this all day! People need to get over Obama’s rock star appeal, and honestly read up on the man.

  • Maggie

Do you know that Obama endorsed live abortion. RB, that means if a baby lives through an abortion then it is Ufinized. You are so jealous RB that it is oozing out of your pores. Let people who are doing good alone, Why don’t you support them . Remember your national anthem . Go spit on another plate.

Oh my goodness, most Americans are soooo brainwashed, blind, and ignorant. Do some research about the wars your country has fought, the propoganda your media and “celebrities” (monarch slaves) spew out constantly, research MK ULTRA,research the worlds elite ruling families and how many of your “democratically elected” presidents have been related to the royal family. Research Bohemian Grove. Research 9/11. And maybe then you will see more to this than “Roseanne is Jealous of Ange”. You are so brainwashed and stupid – it is painful to watch from other parts of the world. Roseanne has and does shed light on important issues if you really listened and research her work recently. She is trying to make ppl think in less of a “people” magazine, MTV way, and deserves support and applause. God help you lot, you need it.

  • Rebecca

Obama, McCain, Bush x2……meh, puppets and its all the same, they just use hegelian tactics on you
