“I’m the healthiest I’ve been all my life. My diet has a lot to do with my getting into shape. I have no sugar. I don’t eat fruit or even fruit juice because of the sugar. I eat chicken and salmon and rice. I eat avocados. I’ll have egg whites for breakfast and sometimes turkey burgers for lunch. I try to do just 1,200 calories a day. It may sound like it’s not much, but it’s actually a lot of food if you eat the right things.”

  2. OMG! 1200 calories a day? 2000 calories a day is even too little for nearly everyone on the planet! wow! we SERIOUSLY need to change our paradigm when it comes to our diets (not fad diets, but the way in which we eat) in this country. yikes.

    and for the record, fructose (fruit sugar) is not processed by the body the same was that sucrose (table sugar/simple sugar–as in candy bars) is. give me a break.

    as a personal trainer, i’d LOVE to ring her trainer’s neck. he’s gonna kill her.

  3. Studies show that protein-rich Atkins-like diets are unhealthy and do not keep weight off in the long term. Diets full of whole grains, fruits, vegetables, and plant-based sources of protein such as legumes, seeds and nuts and with few processed and refined foods are the healthiest according to nearly all peer-reviewed scientific studies on the subject. Fruit is rich in fiber. Fiber is good for you and an important part of weight loss and a healthy diet. There’s little fiber in an Atkins diet. Brit should read the book Skinny Bitchy by Rory Freedman and Kim Barnouin which discusses why whole-foods based vegan diets are better for health, weight control, animals and the environment.

  6. Same here! Avocado’s are the coolest piece of fruit, being so green and all. But that aside, Brit isn’t the only one on our planet who doesn’t know the truth about food. I just saw a nice piece of propaganda (calling itself The Truth About Food;), claiming yoghurt can help lose weight and protein should come from your daily dairy intake. While the shown test results actually concluded that calcium (not nessicarily from yoghurt) helped people lose weight and where the h*ll are the alternatives to a protein intake? It led my mom into believing protein equals animal products, while her own daughter (moi) is vegan. TV will probably always be as misleeding as the “health” stickers on fat free (yet full of sugar) and sugar free (yet full of fat) products. Luckily my house is tv-free yet I secretly wish for a programme teaching people to think for themselves.
