For today’s birthday celebration giveaway, we’re presenting some incredible, 16×20, museum-quality framed photography from Ian Shive.

A recognized and rising star in outdoor lifestyle, landscape and conservation photography, Shive, 30, has had his images appear in such publications as Time Magazine, U.S. News & World Report, National Geographic, Popular Science and Outside Magazine. Beyond the lens, he is also a a member of the International League of Conservation Photographers and regularly supports such groups as The Nature Conservancy and the National Parks Conservation Association.     Greater Victoria in British Columbia during the summer months when the whales are migrating, absolutely gorgeous and unforgettable. Just like those photos.

    O’ahu’s east coast where ever there is a good view of the bright blue ocean. Also a fan of the blue skies and yellow plains of Colorado.

    The quiet alpine lakes in the Cascades where you can barely make out the Seattle skyline, easily see snow-capped Mount Adams, and camp next to a pristine mirror lake amidst the most surreal colors of flora. Then the sun sets and you enjoy a night sky which rivals Bryce or Mendocino National Forest.

    The rural parts of the Kathmandu Valley in the tiny kingdom of Nepal offer the most amazing views of tiered rice fields with mountains outlining the sky each way you turn.

    There is a place called Pebble Beach in England, where dunes and valleys of pebbles fill miles of coast lines. so stunning!

    Amazing photos! My favorite natural location is in Ventura California. There is a spot a few miles from the Ventura pier where the Ventura river flows into the ocean and it’s absolutely breathtaking. It’s a very natural beach setting, no landscaped sand or anything, and it’s also a bird sanctuary. You can sit and watch the tide come in and the pelicans nesting and the fog rolling in during the summer.

    It would be great to hang one of these photos in my office, with other nature-inspired artwork. My favorite natural place is the coastline from Seal Beach to Laguna Beach in California. It’s a great drive along PCH, and there are many lovely spots to stop along the beach. However, Iguazu Falls at the Argentina/Brasil/Paraguay border is amazing, as is the diverse landscape of Hawaii’s Big Island!

    As cheesy as it would sound to anyone in Colorado, I love Red Rocks. The formations at Roxbury are also beautiful, but the acoustics aren’t as good, so Red Rocks wins. Have you ever seen a concert there? Not only does it look beautiful, it sounds beautiful.

    Considering I haven’t had much chance to travel, I’ll have to go back to where I grew up. Magens Bay beach in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands is absolutely one of my favorite natural setttings. You can be in the water up to your neck and still see your toes! I wish I could go back there right now…I’m getting all misty-eyed thinking about it…

    My favorite landscape is right here in my backyard (lucky me!)–the Greater Yellowstone Ecoregion. Craggy peaks, thermal basins, abundant wildlife, alpine lakes, wildflower meadows…they don’t call it Wonderland for nothing!

    My favorite place in the world is Polihale in Kauai. The place is mysterious, beautiful, life-altering, and peaceful. I want to be buried out to sea there. It is the only time in my life where I felt absolute peace.

    I would nominate Pico Bonito, a tropical rain forest and national preserve in the Northern Coastal area of Honduras. It is one of the least explored forests in the entire country, with only a few trails. It is also a ecological preserve, which is very important in Honduras where they are experiencing one of the fastest urbanization rates in all of Central America. Since these habitats are in critical danger, I believe they would be an excellent candidate for photography and to help spread the word about the danger than they are facing.

    Wow! Those are amazing, the forest picture would look beautiful on my wall.:) i love the Blueridge mountains with it’s mountian creeks, and cascading waterfalls. There is beauty everywhere here.

    My newest favorite natural location is Yangshuo, Guangxi Province, China. The karst rock formations combined with the river, fisherman, and romping water buffalo are amazing … and left me again ready to take up my English teaching job here in western China.

    I love nature and to me it can be as simple as Fairmount Park which is in my current backyard to the more pristine Rocky Mountains located in my old back yard.

    That is a really hard question to pick just one place. I live in CO and get to see that beauty everyday but another place I went to recently which really blew me away was the 1,000+ year old trees in the old growth forests on Vancouver Island, BC. What a profound sense of peace I felt while hanging out with the trees in the forest and they were so beautiful to look at, too.
