Anthony Edwards has announced that his charity, Shoe4Africa, has raised more than $15 million for a new Children’s hospital in Kenya. The actor — who played the popular charcter Dr Mark Greene on the hit TV series ERhelps head the organization alongside Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo and actress Natalie Portman.

It will be the largest such hospital in Africa catering for children, especially newborns

“This project is very dear to my heart. I love Kenya, I want to do my best for the Kenyan people,” he said in an interview. He also mentioned how the recent post-election violence makes this project more important than ever. “During that period, I believe women and their children were the most vulnerable,” he added. “I hope the establishment of the hospital will help children have a safe place to seek medical attention in case of such an occurrence.”
