I totally think that's a brilliant idea. I'm not anti-TV, but I definitely severely limit the amount of TV that my son watches. If he's lucky, he watches about an hour a week. And even then, I hate to do it, because I notice behavioral changes. Like any person, he'd watch it all day if you let him. Kids don't need to watch TV.

I agree that this could definitely be beneficial to the development of the child. It's sad seeing otherwise active and stimulated children plopped in front of the TV. Working the branding and marketing world, people need to maintain what creative and imaginative juices they can.

They should make reminders for adults that pop up as well! It's a big, beautiful world out there and I hate to waste my young life in front of a TV screen!

It makes perfect sense. Studies do show what the post said about the effects of T.V. on children and those who watch more than 2 hours a day have waaaay more problems. Of course there are good shows (Do they do Sesame Street in France), but really limiting the tube sounds awesome.

I know a woman who let her children watch television sun up to sun down until they entered school-cheap version of babysitter anyone? Not only that, but the mother was too dingy and let the kid watch horror shows, etc.

That kid has not passed 1 Statewide standardized test for school and she is now 11 and struggling. Go figure!
