“I’m a junkatarian meaning I’m vegan to the best of my ability but I like to order French fries all the time. To displace feminism, I don’t like to cook much so I order out a lot and often I order French fries. I find being a vegan very hard. It’s a huge pain in the ass, everyday I try but it’s hard. But if everyone cuts down just a little, like cut one meat product out of your life or cut back a day of meat a week, that will make a change. I finally decided to become a vegan while I was eating a Sunday at Denny’s, I thought it’s time, I know whats going on, I need to make a change, it needs to happen. The animals, if they could, they’d thank you.”

    Last I heard, she lives in NYC. That’s practically vegan capital of the U.S., if not the world. Whenever I visit NYC, I eat very well. There are so many good places where you can get a fantastic meal that doesn’t contain fries.

    Yes, when I’m at home, I try to cook regularly. Or I eat the analogues with a microwave-baked potato. Yum.

    Uh, I’ve been vegan over 3 years and 2/3rds of that time was in a very non-vegan town… and I don’t think I’ve EVER said it was hard. In fact I was just on the road for 5 days and STILL ate very well. So it kind of makes me mad when people say it’s hard, especially if they’re living in NYC. It’s not as easy as eating whatever crap you happen upon, but it’s not hard.

    I have been a vegan for 20 years before that was a lacto vegetarian for five years (a total of 25 meatless years). I live about 80 miles from NYC in a not so vegan friendly area (no veg restaurants within 50 miles)…and it is easy to be vegan. I make some sacrifices, sure…don’t dine out like I would like to, but it is no problem at all. I don’t know what she is complaining about and I hope that she is eating vegan french fries (I am not even sure where to find vegan french fries). I would never step foot inside a fast food restaurant (the smell would kill me), and have little temptation to eat crappy food like that….oh, and when I travel by plane, I make peanut butter or almond butter sandwiches or by car I travel with a cooler and bring yummy stuff I have prepared.
