  1. I need them because I am notorius for carrying unfashionable bags.

  2. Great giveaway! Coming to the product that I gave a new purpose to….well I use my swimming goggles when I cut onions so I dont start crying…the swimming glasses are a good fit around the eyes and keep the water form the onion away! LOL !

  3. My brother-in-law ran for judge a few years ago and we saved all of the signs. Now when we need to make a sign, we fold it inside out, staple it shut and write whatever we need to for our sign. They work great for garage sale signs!

Also, I use my empty tissue boxes to store my grocery store plastic bags which I then use as wastepaper basket liners.

  4. back in 96 when i was just a kid livin’ in california i got a recycled hand bag made of magazines.. it was so cool. i need one to match them. i’ve been eco since child hood. lez do it!

  5. I like them, but I like the CandyWrapper Tote VivaTerra offers better. It’s still recycled, but so much more colorful. I tried to look at the other things this store offered, but the link wouldn’t load. I love their approach.

  6. I just made a gift from an old cigar box that I oiled with evoo (it wasn’t finished before) and in it I put soy candles that I made using altoid mint tins. People at work give me the tins when they are done with them.

  7. Rolling Stone covers have become the wallpaper to my bedroom, and i save the magazines because the stories are always relevant. Also, I give away ANYTHING that I don’t want anymore to goodwill - I won’t have a garage sale because I dont need the money, and someone needs my items.

  8. These are so wonderful!

  9. Right now, I’m reusing a glass milk bottle as a vase :D

  10. ok my sis already commented on this page, but since we’ve made it a rule NOT to share stuff I’ve got to make my bid too ;-)

I’ve been using and making recycled handbags since I was a wee lass and think I deserve a shot. Plus it’ll look real hot with my recycled jersey dress…. ;)

    Peace
    E

  11. One of those bags would look great on my arm as I drop off the patchwork quilts I make from used clothing (too used to donate)at homeless shelters or that I give straight to folks living on the street.

  12. I repurpose old clothes for new things. For example, I turned all my old soccer jerseys into a big quilt. And, I am using scraps to stuff pillows for a new project.

  13. I want to “advertise” my green-ness.. get it? ha ha ha….

  14. I need a fashionable eco shoulder bag! I reuse paper sacks for nearly every use paper can be put to, including wrapping paper - it looks chic when paired with bright ribbon (leftover from Christmas wrapping). I also reuse candy tins to store spices that I buy in bulk.

  15. Oooo… where can I get my hands on some old billboards?! I rescue yarn and fabrics from getting thrown out by other people. It’s green and cheap!

  16. I LOVE These Bags!!! I would be so, the envy of people and I would lead them back to you.
I use the plastic bags that are used for paper delivery from all my neighbors for my dogs waste.

  17. We reuse all kinds of jars and containers for organizing and storage, especially in the garage :) *Thanks* for the giveaway!

  18. Until I was 14 I thought our family just bought things in cans and jars so we would have more vases and pencil-holders. I am so glad that the world now sees reuse as something other than trash-hoarding!

When I used to smoke I had a tin band-aid box to put my soft-pack cigarettes into. Now I just re-chew the gum stuck under my chair (just kidding, but it makes a good punch line!)

GG2G bags are great! Durable and attractive.

  19. I use old plastic jars that peanuts come in and decorate them for pencils holders and the larger ones to hold my bookmarks and other little stuff. My daughter decorated one and she uses it for a bank.

  20. I reuse my plastic ziploc bags by washing them out. I also have a stash of dishes and bamboo cutlery at work so I don’t use disposable plastic utensils.

  21. I buy housewares and clothing at garage sales or Goodwill, then recycle the same way. I use empty containers, paper rolls, etc for arts and crafts. I use broken china as garden decoration. And I love GG2G’s bags!

  22. I actually sew up tattered clothes to give them new life. LOL! Now gimme the loot! :)

  23. Well, when I forget to bring my cloth bags to the grocery store…I save all the plastic ones and reuse for just about everything! I tie up my dogs potty pads in them, or throw away stinky food in them or bring lunch to work in them. I also have directions on knitting a shopping bag out of all the plastic ones I’m going to try soon.

  24. I was lucky that for my outdoor wedding a local restaurant going out of business donated glassware and cutlery, because I had decided not to use plasticware and not just for the sake of elegance. Some I saved for future home picnics and donated the rest. Being Eco friendly is a new path for me.

  25. i reuse everything, from containers that food comes in, to the wax liner in the cereal box, to envelopes from the mail, and so on and so on. “don’t throw that out!” has become a mantra in our house! i want to win a bag! :)

  26. I reuse plastic bags! And not just for trash liners….I have discovered PLASTIC BAG FUSING :D You save up a bunch of bag, cut off the handels, layer them and iron them together to make a more durable plastic “fabric” I have been working on making a Whole Foods bag out of Whole Foods bags!!! But they dont use plastic anymore so i may fill with some other bags.

I am not a master of it yet (a sewing machine would help) but I have big plans for gifts and all sorts of great little items (similar to this actually!)

  27. This past weekend, I needed wrapping paper in a pinch, so I pulled out colorful ads from magazines and patch-worked them together for a cool-looking birthday gift!

I also use old 35mm plastic film canisters to hold quarters for parking meters, coin-op laundry, etc. (reserved from the days when we took snapshots with actual rolls of FILM!)

  28. I use old magazine pages, line them with stiff cardstock and use a template to make envelopes. Also do the same with old calendars and wallpaper samples.

  29. I use old jelly jars for storage of little things like buttons, beads, ect.

  30. My husband and I bought a small A-frame cabin with no modern conveniences 7 years ago and have been updating, remodeling and adding onto it (when the baby came!) ever since using as many recycled materials as possible along the way. The best thing about using recycled building materials is that many of them were ‘donated’ to us if we just came and hauled them away from wherever they were. All of our windows, all of our doors (both exterior & interior), some of our major kitchen appliances, approx. 1000 s.f. of subfloor, solid marble countertop, most of our tile, most of our plumbing fixtures, all of our cabinetry and all of our furniture (great looking by the way!) has come from construction sites and remodeling in the area where we live where these items would have been headed for the landfill if they had made it to the extremely large ‘roll-off’ dumpsters at the sites. It has taken a long time and a lot of ’sweat equity’ but we have a fabulous house that we couldn’t have afforded to just buy outright as it is now. And, if we decide to go somewhere else and recycle another old house, we can sell this one to someone who can afford a ‘ready-made’ house like this one and they’ll never know that the beautiful marble countertop was saved from a dumpster!!!

  31. I like to make journals from 6 pack holders :) The cardboard for jackets and scrap paper inside. Also I love pickle jars…for anything

  32. Promo CDs that I receive in the mail become coasters in their second life.

  33. The best bags around! I use mine every day as a pocket book and I often use the extra space to stick small bought items (book, tape, bananas to name a few recent items) instead of taking a bag. At the grocery, if I forget my cloth bags, I take all the food out in the cart and put it straight in the car-it really doesn’t take that much longer and I’m more likely to remember the bags next time. My husband uses old glass baby food jars to organize nails, screws, etc. and old yogurt cups make great paint holders for the kids. Wrapping paper is never bought, always reused, AND all those announcements that come home from school are cut into fourths and used regularly for notes.

  34. GG2G is the best ! I love their stuff, practical yet stylish! My hubby and I recycle everything we can, and for our new baby we opted for cloth diapers, homemade food, and locally made toys and clothes!

  35. We also recycle everything we can at my house. I love to use interesting colorful tin cans with holes punched in the bottom as plant pots. They last a long time before they get too rusty. (Use plastic lids or old pottery plates underneath to catch the drips from watering). I use them also for water pots when painting watercolor paintings. I recycle old t-shirts and sweatshirts by putting them inside the pot holders I make for the kitchen. I tear old cotton clothing and towels into rectangles to use as rags (we save $$$ by not buying paper towels. Don’t forget to save the buttons)! Once when we were flat broke I made laundry detergent and hand cleaner from recycled wood stove ashes by making home made lye from them and rain water. Added some fat and voila! (Don’t try this at home without having had your grandma tell you stories about how she used to do laundry before there was such a thing as laundry detergent)!

  36. I have always repurposed & reused items. My furniture is all secondhand. I once had a ‘bookshelf’ made of milk crates & wood siding from an abandoned house. My current bookcase and computer desk both came from a thrift store that runs a program for homeless alcoholics. Our couch & other bookcase came from a place called the “Swop Shop” that sells consignment furniture. I use an Altoids tin for a wallet.
Currently I am taking a sewing class & making a beautiful (I hope) Renaissance outfit; hat, vest, skirt & overskirt. (I already have the shirt from a thrift store last year, and my boots are old favorites that I’ve had 15 years.) All of the material was clearance curtains & tablecloths from work. It would have cost me around $75 from the fabric store, but I’ve got only about $6.50 spent in material; add the $15.50 for thread & other notions and I’ll have a great outfit for the Renaissance Festival AND Halloween costume for under $25!!!
I recycle at work, too! At the service desk I got tired of other employees taking register tape (I HATE to see needless waste!) to write notes on; I saved an old plastic display box & cut up old ad signs & coupons for scrap paper; that was over a year ago & it’s still being used; I love when we have colorful handouts for scrap paper, it makes it more interesting. I believe my scrap tray was the inspiration for the new scrap paper conveniently left in a cubby near the schedule, too!
NOW, about those bags; I really would like to have the JackJ Tote. I ride a motorcycle & always carry a bag for my (aluminum) water bottles and any purchases. The clerks in my grocery store know when they see me to just hand back my items to be stashed in my bag; no plastics for me, Thanks. My current bag is a clearance ($2) backpack from work & I’ve been through two already in the last year. I would LOVE to have a really good durable, Made in USA, recycled bag for my daily ride to work & wherever life takes me. Billboards are made to stand up to wind & rain & snow, so this would be great for me; I ride year-round. I have gear for every season; much of it second-hand.

  37. My 5 year old son and I basically keep anything that can’t be recycled instead of throwing it in the trash. Most of it is repurposed into a variety of art projects but sometimes I use things randomly around the house for repairs, to decorate, or just plain functionality (for example, some old string became a towel “bar” in the kitchen).

  38. I find it pretty difficult to throw away anything “useful”.
I use my son’s art work from preschool to wrap presents.
