Colin Firth Helps Eco Designer Achieve Dream

September 12th 2008

It’s one thing to receive an endorsement from a celebrity, but to have such a person then decide to also stock and promote your work in their popular green store is just priceless. Such is the situation UK designer Kate Molson now finds herself in thanks to the generous support of Colin Firth.

The 48-year-old actor has fallen in love with Molson’s unique range of woven hemp material and plans to sell her first bag in his London store Eco Age. Even better, Firth will autograph a few of the bags at a special upcoming event to be held at the shop. To be sure, Molson is thrilled. “It’s an amazing time for me – having Colin’s shop sell the bag and taking part in this year’s HOST (Huddersfield Open Studio Trail) are both raising my profile very quickly considering I am really just starting out,” she said. “I’ve only been working on my range of materials for around five months so to be noticed so soon is incredible.”

Kate uses only organic and sustainable hemp yarn, which is manufactured locally without the use of toxins. Kudos to Firth for recognizing her product and helping to get it in front of the public.

Anyone out there been to Eco Age yet? Check out their official website here.

  1. Sexy, british and eco-friendly. Colin Firth is awesome.

  2. The store is immense. I was sceptical about Colin Firth running it but his celebrity status has really helped eco-friendly products take off. The people of Chiswick are lucky to have a such a place on their high street. Hope the internet store is launched soon.
Hopefully with Colin promoting British products it will give a boost to all those eco-friendly designers who are feeling the pinch due to the credit crunch.
Can’t wait to check out the bag!
