Textured Vegetable Protein (TVP) mince has been around since I was a meat refusing child, and I remember trying Quorn mince in my 20s (now mid 40s - ouch!). I wasn't so keen on Quorn as it contains egg (albumen) which I don't like to eat. The LM mince is the best type of mince I've found to date. I've served it to both my partner and son and, despite being meat eaters, they've both enjoyed it.

Eh? But vegetarian mince has been available for years! Decades even, as I remember my mother buying it in an act of despearation after I made my first veggie stand as a kid back in the '80s.

I did think the Linda McCartney brand already sold it, but perhaps not: You can certainly get Quorn mince (I bought a pack this very morning to make spag bols, yum yum) and most big supermarkets in the UK do their own version made out of TVP.

To the other Brandi.. It sounds like you're referring to TVP, textured vegetable protein, which has been around forever. That was the old school predecessor that people who have been vegetarians for a really, really long time (I know I was eating it 20 years ago) were eating. It really does not compare to the modern processes out there. I have no idea what exactly mince is supposed to be like, but TVP wasn't really all that great in comparison to what is out there now.

I don't think anyone said it was a "new" idea. Just a new product in her food line that didn't exist before.

Not such a "new" idea. While I was volunteering in Jamaica, I'd eat veggie mince all the time. (Good recipe: http://www.caribbeanchoice.com/recipes/recipe.asp?recipe=285) Veggie chunks were better. Kind of weird though, you just re-hydrated them...and they had a ton of salt in them.

They looked so young and sweet. She was more than likely his one true love. So sad that she passed. Also sad that he got tricked by ol' nutty butt Heather Mills. Hopefully, things will work out well with Nancy Shevell, the new girlfriend.
