it’s hard not to admire Paul Newman for putting his money to work in such productive ways, such as his Newman’s Own line–high quality stuff and the proceeds go to good causes… very smart.

My first crush. I had a huge Paul Newman poster that covered one wall, B/W with those blue eyes. Yea I loved his movies, but it was his activism that really made him shine. One of his last statements in June 2007 was ” I am proud now to stand with a new generation of Democrats against a president who poses what I believe to be the biggest internal threat to american democracy in my lifetime. It made me smile when he said his highest honor he ever received was to be on Nixon’s enemies list; “It was one of my lifes proudest achievements. More than the films, more than the awards, finding out that I was on Nixon’s enemies list meant that I was doing something right.
Deeply saddened to lose such a honorable and giving comrade. He truly cared in a world full of apathy.
Rest in Peace you dear gentleman

What a wonderful, talented and giving individual. Paul leaves so much and so sad we had to lose him this soon. His gift to humanity will be remembered and he will be missed. He was a gifted and wonderful actor. As a CT person, I feel I knew him as I watched his career and gifts for many years. Prayers to his lovely family.

paul newman was one of my heroes (the list of which are few). he was a person that you could truly look up to, one that set an example for the rest of us to aspire to. he died leaving a legacy far greater than most of us who take up space here on earth. i think he will rest well knowing that.
