vegan roundup 2

So this is the third week of Ecorazzi’s new feature, Veg Blog Round-Up: News From Around The Web. How do ya’ll like it? This week’s Round-Up is particulary exciting because I’m writing to you, not from my dreary New York City apartment, but from a gorgeous, lush home in Portland, Oregon. As previously mentioned, I’m spending some time in Oregon filming a new video series for the blog with a few super green and veggie business owners. But let’s get back to the topic at hand. Now, straight from the west coast, the third edition of: VEG BLOG ROUND-UP: NEWS FROM AROUND THE WEB (echo: web, web, web, web)!!!

Blog.Peta.Org22 Charges Filed Based on PETA Investigation at Hormel Supplier by Christine Doré
“It’s with a proud and ecstatic heart that I report this news today! Our investigation into an Iowa pig farm that breeds piglets destined for Hormel has resulted in 22—that’s right, count them—22 criminal charges.”

The Discerning Brute: Carnivore Pride by Joshua Katcher
“Popping up all over the web are ‘carnivore pride’ sites whose messages range from unapologetic, caveman cravings, to defensive and arrogant rationalizers’ manifestos. Some even refer to a “call to arms”, as if every aspect of consumer culture isn’t already unrelenting in pushing meat and other animal products onto a terrified and protein-obsessed, infantile and hedonistic consumer culture.”

Super Vegan: Finally, a Writer Takes a Stand Against Baseless Political Accusations by Brownbird Rudy Relic
“Recently, Montana’s gubernatorial candidate, Roy Brown was accused of being, of all things a vegetarian!”

The Urban Housewife: World Vegetarian Day & VBC Picnic Edition by Melliser; The Urban Housewife
“This year was the 9th annual World Vegetarian Day in San Francisco & Sugar Beat Sweets was lucky enough to have a table selling vegan treats to the veg masses!”

Living Without Meat: COCO Eco’: New Environmentally Friendly Fashion Magazine by Sallie Anderson
Ecorazzi also proudly announced the publication’s October 18 release, including the naming of Anna Griffin, who has done correspondence for the environmentally friendly blog, as editor-in-chief.”

Fat-Free Vegan Kitchen: Pumpkin and Black Bean Casserole: by Susan V.
“My idea was to make a layered casserole, sort of like Mexican Lasagna, but with slices of pumpkin instead of tortillas. The resulting casserole didn’t come out looking quite so neatly layered, but I think it fits my “toss enough ingredients” theme just about perfectly.”

Vegan.com: Prop 2 Urgently Needs Last-Minute Funding by Erick Marcus
“Today, I just read a bulletin from Wayne Pacelle, the head of HSUS, and it appears that Prop 2’s funding needs have become critical.”

Good Round-Up, everybody! Remember, we love nothing more than reading outstanding veg blogs (except maybe watching Natalie Portman films), so if you’re blogging hard to promote the herbivore lifestyle make sure to leave a comment and say hello!

  1. I like the idea of getting snippits from these blogs as I don’t always remember to check them all out.
