I hope you have an enormous insurance policy because when (not if) one of those “converted” cars either catches fire from the overheated batteries during an “overcharge” or another mishap, your head is going to be on the chopping block. Hide your assets in an off-shore bank or trust if you have half a brain. Your day of reckoning will come when your NON-CERTIFIED hobby turns into a DISASTER. Leave the real battery EVs up to the automakers that have their cars federally certified.

PEOPLE – RUN! DON’T WALK FROM ANYONE LIKE MR. Q (FORMER HIGH SCHOOL SHOP TEACHER?!!!) OFFERING TO CONVERT ANY OF YOUR VEHICLES TO ANY TYPE OF ALTERNATIVE FUEL VEHICLE ONLY IF THAT PERSON HAS NOT BEEN AUTHORIZED BY THE AUTOMAKER TO DO SO! IF THEY ARE AN “AUTHORIZED UP-FITTER” PLEASE CONVERT AS MANY VEHICLES AS YOU CAN TO RUN ON SOMETHING OTHER THAN PETROLEUM!!! WE NEED EVERYTHING WE CAN GET, BUT DONE IN A SAFE AND RESPONSIBLE MANNER. YOU AIN’T IN THE THIRD WORLD AND DON’T NEED TO SUBJECT YOURSELF TO UNSAFE AND POTENTIALLY FATAL MISTAKES BY USING THESE FLY-BY-NIGHT COMPANIES.

I’m a retired high school auto shop teacher and I’ve been involved in converting ICE cars to NICE cars for the past five years by offering a ten day workshop in which participants from all over the world are able to convert a gas car to an electric power in one ten day session. I also believe the emergence of an EV grass roots movement is underway. This movement is being carried out in thousands of home garages across this country and around the world where gas cars are being converted to electric by hobby EV’ers. I wish to teach the EV conversion process to low and moderate income people and therefore expand it from being only a hobby for those who can afford it. If you are of a like mind, please GOOGLE and type in C2EC2T for more background and then please contact me. BTW, I met Chris at the Kick Gas Festival and I think his upcoming film ” Revenge of the Electric Car” is a great idea and hopefully he will make an attempt to reach our low and moderate income families with the EV message, because these are the folks who can least afford to ignore owning and driving a converted EV for everyday commuting.

It will be very interesting to see if Paine (what an appropriate name) will give the EXPERIENCED automakers (Honda, GM, Toyota, Nissan, Daimler, BMW, Subaru, Mitsubishi, Th!nk) the respect they deserve for producing hydrogen fuel cell electric and battery electric cars.

This is an interesting project, especially in the light of the announcement that GM and Chysler are looking to merge, and the idea that the American taxpayer should the Big 3 out.

GM, especially needs to have their feet held to the fire — they had a great idea and they KILLED it.
