[...] Ew, that’s pretty extreme. The country-music/ American Idol isn’t alone. Carrie Underwood, who is also a former Idol contestant has been crowned “world’ sexiest female celebrity vegetarian” twice in the last four years. Pickler says her decision was met with initial skepticism from Underwood, but since becoming a vegetarian five months ago, Pickler says that Underwood is “proud” of her. Read more here.
I really shake my head when I read articles like this and the comments people leave. Please, try to educate yourselves on the issues instead of blindly following what seems to be trendy at the time. As for PETA, they and the majority of their supporters are the biggest hypocrites ever. Don't forget Pam's Viper came with leather seats. Real leather.
I am a farmer in Canada and yes I use chemicals on my crops. If you are against that I completely respect that. However, if you are against it because you have been brainwashed to believe that it's healthier, I have a problem with that. FYI, organic farming puts more CO2 into the air than conventional. Don't believe me? Visit a farm and see for yourself. I just have a real problem with uneducated and ignorant people forcing their views on other people and then being indignant when an opposing view is presented.

With regards to Pamela, I see her as more of a force in the animal rights arena and less of an environmentalist. Though I believe that her deeper involvement with the group as led her to become linked to supporting green causes (as a force for helping animals, IMHO). That being said, she has pushed for sustainable green building in projects both in Canada and the UAE -- though how committed she is to the idea remains to be seen.

And yes, her Viper was a mileage disaster. I'd be curious to see what she's driving now.

If I'm correct, the right word is actually Pescetarian.
I'm not a fan of PETA's methods, but good for Kellie for finally feeling concerned. Hopefully she's paving her own way to become a vegetarian.

Michael, a pitfall in linking PETA to the environmental movement is that the public will associate some of PETA's more ridiculous and/or offensive work (like putting bikini-clad women in cages and having them hold egg-shaped signs about the suffering of chicks) with environmentalists. I can't tell you how many times I've had to correct people who confuse the environmental movement with the animal-rights movement. I've heard people dismiss environmentalist concerns as the concerns of those nuts at PETA.

With regard to Pammy, she's clearly an animal-rights activist but she's not an environmentalist. That makes her look a weensy bit stupid.

Run -- This site is serious about the environment -- but we don't hide the fact that we also cover issues pertaining to animal rights, humanitarian work, charity, vegetarian lifestyle, etc.

In my opinion, they're all related and all worthy of discussing.

PETA's mission is valuable to the environmental movement. Reducing the consumption of meat in this world would do wonders for decreasing the amount of C02 pushed into the atmosphere each year.

Recognizing that animals deserve respect will go a long way towards protecting their habitats, preserving the environment, and engaging society to care more about the world around us and less how it tastes on our plates or looks on our bodies.

Pam Anderson isn't so deserving of Ecorazzi's praise. Remember how she offered her Viper as a prize? Well, go look up the wretched fuel economy of a Viper.

Really, if this site is serious about the environment, it must recognize that fighting global warming and air pollution is more important as an *environmentalist* cause than PETA, which acts out of non-environmentalist concerns (ending animal suffering).

There's a great contradiction between saying you wanna save the little animals and recklessly polluting the air they breathe. Pammy doesn't get it. It's time Ecorazzi got it.
