Neil Young is making headlines today after cancelling a concert in Los Angeles to show his support for an ongoing union strike led by the staff at the indoor arena. The strike is in response to a contract dispute with the venue’s owner, Faithful Central Bible Church.

You might not know this, but Young is an honorary lifetime member of the workers’ union, the International Association of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) – and therefore has refused to cross the picket line.

In a statement Young says, “I am extremely disappointed to have to choose between satisfying my fans or backing my brothers and sisters of the IATSE.”

No fear, Neil Young fans! The show will be rescheduled for a date in 2009 and ticket holders can get refunds at the point of purchase. Keep on fighting the good fight, Neil!
