Prince William And Prince Harry Celebrate War Heroes At James Bond Premiere

October 30th 2008

Not since they attended Spiceworld: The Movie in 1997 with their father Prince Charles, have Prince William and Prince Harry hit the red carpet for a premiere. Last night, they made up for their dreaded first choice by attending the premiere of the new James Bond film, Quantum of Solace.

Of course, this was no ordinary movie celebration. Both Princes wanted the event to also recognize the efforts and sacrifice of Britain’s true miliatry heroes. The brothers invited war veterans and their families to line the red carpet and attend the premiere. From the article,

The aim was to raise more than £500,000 from the evening for two military charities, The Royal British Legion and Help for Heroes. A Clarence House spokesman said: ‘The princes chose these two great causes because they are linked to Remembrance Day, but most importantly because they want to make the point that this is a film about a British action hero, but the money is going to our country’s real heroes who put their lives in the line of fire day in, day out, in Iraq and Afghanistan.’

No word yet on totals, but it’s great to see yet another premiere used to raise money for some worthy organizations. Jump here to see some additional pics from the event.
