-Oprah Winfrey discussing Barack Obama’s recent presidential win!

    Hi,
I never leave messages, but this is one I would like to respond to. I have watched Oprah for many years grow and become who she is today. I am proud of what she has done and I am sure she does not care how I feel. But, I will put my 2 cents in anyway.

With Obama winning, does Oprah believe this is one of the greatest moments because she really feels he will be a great President or he is black? Does she feel the same way about abortion as he? Wouls she feel good if she stood beside him and he would NOT salute the flag? Would she feel the same way about him if he were white?

The reason I ask these questions, whether I am black, white, or both, I want to know the REAL reason she supports him.

Is It because of his religion? Many people say this is not important. Well, tell that to everything that was written by our Forefathers!! Say that and say the pledge, Sing the National Anthem, say a prayer, or spend your Oprah money!! Say that religion is not important when he came from a Muslim family. And from researching this religion I have found that ALL Muslims believe and are taught that if anyone they come in contact with is NOT their religion, they should be killed! SO, if Obama claims NOT to be Muslim, what will his family do if this holds true! And if he is Muslim and this is true, does that mean all Christians and religions besides Muslims will be dealt with in the future?

I really would like for Oprah to think about these questions in the near future. I am ONLY a teacher. YES ONLY! Isn’t this how we are looked at by society? I am sure Obama and Oprah have had a good talk or laugh about their success. NOW, I want to know one more thing,

I saw one of Oprah’s shows many years ago about how she thought whites OWED the blacks and how she thought whites should continue to say I am sorry for the past. One white teacher stood up, walked up to the microphone, and said how she loved all of her children the same in her classroom and how she treated them equal. Oprah snuffed her.
You could tell the lady was embarrassed. Now the question is, did Oprah back Obama because of skin color OR his capabilities and if it IS because of color does she continue to believe that whites owe her?

Hey, I am just asking. I voted their ability to stand as a leader and their beliefs. Because if you do not feel religion should be important or has nothing to do with office, TELL THAT ONE TO THE OVER 5000 PEOPLE AFFECTED BY 9/11 and the ones that were responsible and hollering “Jihad”.

But, who am I huh, surely not Oprah!

P.S. Myself, I live pay check to pay check and my husband is now on disability. We have 2 children and both will be in college by the end of the year. So all this money Obama spent the last 2 years and what Oprah has, yes I get angry!

  • The Science Commenter

    Weird…But anyway,

I don’t know what kind of religion Obama grew up in, but he currently is not a Muslim. And even if he was, who gives a ****?

Contrary to your ignorance Muslims are not taught to kill everyone that isn’t of their religion. It is actually a very peaceful religion and those who have perpetrated the stereotypes of anything else are definitely in the margin.

Please educated yourself darling. Even if Obama wanted to “deal” with everyone else, he still has to go to Congress and even the Supreme Court in cases to do any action. I doubt the Senate and House have “destroy certain religions” on a higher priority list than the economy, The Middle East, Education, and probably even abolishing clown porn.

If you are struggling to get by and trying to go to college while your husband is on disability, you should be glad Mr. Suspect Jihad will be in office come January as I’m sure he’ll work to improve and initiate policies that will be more good to you than to him or Oprah.

I really don’t like being nasty, but you’re comment makes me think of a statement a co-worker said years ago when she was in college: “It’s scary. The education (and future teachers) majors are not that smart.”

  • http://ecorazzi.com To the Science Commentor

    HUM!!

Hey! Well at least this teacher, and by the way I am from the old school and have taught for 24 years so I guess I do not fit the “Not Smart Future Teachers, got your attention!

But darling, you need to go back to school yourself! Like my father said once said, “Opinions are like a**holes. Everyones got one!” And if you have not read about his religion? Where have you been?

And yes, I do hope that Obama becomes a good leader…..But I think you need to go back and read some more. I have something here I want you to read…..I sound scary? Sweetie I am as conservative and dull as they come. My children call me square because I am so over-protective. I love to teach my little ones and I care what their future holds!

I want you to read this short write-up coming from someone that says Muslims are peaceful. “Now, what I read is that they are until you attack them or break and treaty with them.” They say they do not bother peaceful non-believers. Now, my question and please respond back! Are they looking at me as an individual or as a U.S. citizen.?

    HERE IT IS…….
The most misquoted verse in the quran refering to Jihad is the one the contains the words “… kill the non-believers wherever you find them …” (Quran 9-5). If you think these words are shocking, you will be astonished to know the context.

Chapter 9 of the Quran starts by saying “Freedom from (all) obligations (is declared) from Allâh and His Messenger (peace be upon him) to those of the Mushrikûn (polytheists, pagans, idolaters, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allâh), with whom you made a treaty.”–(Quran 9:1)

“Except those of the Mushrikun with whom you have a treaty, and who have not subsequently failed you in aught, nor have supported anyone against you. So fulfil their treaty to them for the end of their term” — (Quran 9:4)

Clearly, the chapter is refering to “those” non-believers who had a treaty with the Muslims, but subsequently broke their treaty. In which case, the Muslims are free from all obligations thereafter.

Then comes the verse “Then when the Sacred Months (the 1st, 7th, 11th, and 12th months of the Islâmic calendar during which Arabs considered fighting forbidden) have passed, then kill the Mushrikûn wherever you find them, and capture them and besiege them, and lie in wait for them in each and every ambush. But if they repent and perform As-Salât (Islamic prayer), and give Zakât (Alms), then leave their way free. Verily, Allâh is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful” –(9:5)

It is absolute non-sense to claim that the “Mushrikun” in this verse refer to all non-believers. It definitely excludes those who keep their treaty with the Muslims and never support anyone fighting against them. Even those who broke their treaty are excluded if they choose to repent and perform their duties as Muslims.

If you are not surprised enough, read the next verse. “And if anyone of the Mushrikûn (polytheists, idolaters, pagans, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allâh) seeks your protection, then grant him protection so that he may hear the Word of Allâh (the Qur’ân), and then escort him to where he can be secure, that is because they are men who know not.”

Example of Islam’s forgiveness are allover history including present time. You will be amazed to know the story of Ms. Ivon Ridely.

Clearly Quran is not giving Muslims permission to initiate war against peaceful non-believers. The verses above are dealing with those non-believers who already attacked Muslims, fought wars against them, had treaties with them, and finally broke their treaties. Can any of those arrogant ‘experts’ come up with a better way of dealing with ‘those’ non-believers?

Indeed, Allah is the Most Merciful and the Oft-Forgiving.

When you read a verse that says: “… But those who are killed in the Way of Allâh, He will never let their deeds be lost. He will guide them and set right their state. And admit them to Paradise which He has made known to them” — Quran(47:4-6), you can easily tell what ” the way of Allah,” is. The act of sacrificing one’s life and wealth to defend Muslims against those who insistently attack them and break peace treaties definitely qualify as esteemed Jihad. Transgression, however, is prohibited.

And back to Obama, I still want to know WHY Oprah backed him like she did? Now, I haven’t said who I voted for……Not a great big fan of any of them…..But I do love this country and I care. I support our soldiers. I live close to a military base and with the voting going yesterday I could hear the helicopters firing practice rounds. Yo could hear the machine guns follow. The helicopters have a path and fly over our house every day. My father, who is gone now, was a foreman on base for years and never had a helicopter under him go down because of his men.

So don’t say I am scary……Use your thinking skills!! Put them to work….Don’t attack my thinking, but ask questions…….JUST THINK……YOU MAY LEARN SOMETHING FROM AN OUT OF THE WAY TEACHER! Scary, HUH! LOL

  • VeggieTart

And people wonder why I think it’s way past time we got over our prejudice against atheists and agnostics and started electing more of them.

Nita, darlin’, Obama is a Christian, or did you conveniently forget the flap over the nutty Reverend Wright? You folks can’t have it both ways. There is a Muslim serving in the House, by the way, named Keith Ellison. He’s a Democrat from Minnesota, and there was a huge flap over his wanting to take his oath of office with a Q’ran until someone located a copy Thomas Jefferson had owned (merely out of intellectual curiosity). And I have yet to hear one story of him trying to harm one of the other 534 members of the House and Senate who aren’t Muslim.

Celebrities choose the candidates whose views align most closely with theirs. And I think that Oprah and Barack Obama would have far more respect for teachers and folks trying to eke out a living than married-to-an-heiress McCain.

  • http://ANDTHISISWHY Listen to Yourself

I never respond to articles…….I have had a few questions and the responder treats you as though you are “DUMB”. Well, darlin, I am leaving you with this. I do not know you and you don;t know me. I am a teacher that works with special needs children and I love it!

I am a Christian too! I do not know but what I have heard and read about Muslims and their faith. I do know there are those that practice the faith close to the military base where I live. I read that Obama does not believe everything he reads in the BIBLE. One news station or article says Obama “CLAIMS” he is a Christian and others say not. I have not heard from him in person. Have you?

I do realize McCain and his wife have a few cobwebs themselves, I do not deny that. Or at least that is what I have read and heard on the radio. I have seen many videos on Obama that scares me! So, what ever you say…..Each of you keep in mind that only God knows the plan……And one day you will have to answer to him.

  • The Science Commenter

    Nita:

So brilliant that you believe the meaning of a relgious text word for word. I’m sure all Muslims take this seriously as well.

Similarly, you should take verses from the Christian Bible word for word. For example:

    1. 1 corinthians 14:34-35 “Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law.”
—-Be quiet, annoying woman. (in the Church and on this site)

    2. 1 Cor. 11:7″A man is the image and glory of God; but the woman is the glory of man.”
—See, you really are inferior compared to your husband, anyway.

    3. 1 Tim. 2:12-14 “I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man.”
—Hope you don’t plan to teach high school, cause when your male students turn 18…

    4. Leviticus 15:19 A woman who is menstruating is unclean. Anyone who touches her is unclean.
—Eww. Stay away from me, dirty period girl.

    See the point?

  • http://ECORAZZI GOD’S WORD IS TRUE

When I read your comment, I was not surprised the way you responded. I feel sorry for you! If you are the responder to this webpage or company, I feel sorry for the company. Since the conversation started, you have not clearly answered the questions except on a very negative and demeaning way. You have taken a stab at the BIBLE in a way that shows you have not been taught its contents properly nor have you been taught manners. Your company should be ashamed of your actions. You have responed in an iappropriate and condescending manner. Even a Muslim would not tolerate such a assault toward their written documents and should be appalled. I wrote thinking maybe with the comments from Opray you could provide some answers, not blast the Christian faith.

But I can see you are not dignified enough to handle such a challenge. All you know to do is treat the questions with obnoxious and repulsive words. This shows you are not part of the solution! YOU ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM! AND YES, COMPARED TO YOU I AM BRILLIANT!

GWIT and readers- Nobody from the management team at Ecorazzi has commented on this conversation — and I’ll go out on a limb here and say that none of us will.

Nita of a thousand names: What the Science Commenter is trying to point out is that for every Q’ran verse you want to trot out about how “bad” Islam is, one can trot out stuff from the Bible that’s equally crappy. And the point is moot because Obama identifies as Christian. And yes, I say “identifies” as religion is a lifestyle choice, and I identify as agnostic. see?

But this is not about the bible, any religious text, or how a president-elect identifies himself religiously. Oprah is happy about the results of the presidential election, and I can guess why.

  • Shanika HIll

    Oh Veggie
When you stand before God tell him what you have said on this site and what you believe! see what he tells you!

  • The Science Commenter

    Shanika:

God will be very proud of Veggie. But Veggie (with the lifestyle he or she is living) is looking after his universe and his creatures—by not eating them!

Why don’t you read YOUR bible! Remember, we (Adam and Eve) ate plants in the beginning…We were also naked. Something I wouldn’t mind keeping versus uncomfortable work cloths I am forced to put on every day…

  • fbr

Nita, Qur’an is many orders of magnitude more complex to study than the Bible. In general you cannot lift passages out of it like you did because the chances are that they’ve been over turned by another passage somewhere else or are not applicable for other reasons. So unless you’re willing to dedicate years or decades to study the book (and other texts) you’re better off just leaving it alone.

The point of Islam being a “religion of peace” was raised here, and is often raised by politicians. And it is true, Islam is a religion of peace. However, people unfamiliar with the faith, understandably, misinterpret what this means. It is the duty of every Muslim to work towards world peace. According to Islam, world peace can only exist when all the people of the world have either converted to Islam, agreed to be ruled by Muslims (and to pay extra taxes) or died.

Of course, the range of belief you see among people calling themselves Muslims is pretty much the same as among Christians. You have the radicals who’s views are just as nutty as the views of fundamentalist Christians and you have the silent majority who are believers only in name. I studied with many Muslims, I’ve had Muslim friends, and just today I sat in a meeting with a Muslim and will do so tomorrow too. Muslims are humans just like Christians, Jews or atheists. The defining factor is the depth of belief – whether the object is the Christian God, Jewish God, or Allah makes no real difference.

  • Lorna

    Hi Nita,

Do you know any Muslims personally? If you do, you’d know, simply by virtue of the fact that you are still alive and breathing, that they don’t actually believe in killing non-Muslims. I am very good friends with a Muslim. His wife converted to Islam 10 years ago. They are decent, normal people. They have, as far as I know, hatched no plot to kill me and my husband and daughter in our sleep. Every religion has fringe elements and people who abuse it for their own ends. Islam has them. So does Christianity. Perhaps before you start writing about a faith you clearly know nothing about, you should go out and meet a few actual Muslims and see what they actually believe and how they actually behave. If you survive the encounter, you’ll have your answer about whether they believe in killing people like you who don’t share their faith. They don’t. Trust me. I survived an encounter with several of them and am still here. In fact, I’ll be lunching with my Muslim buddy downtown Chicago in a few days. I’ll tell him you said “Hi.” But maybe, just to be safe, before I sit down to my salad and coke, I should frisk him first. You think?

  • Jolin

WOW!! I have for 2 days sat back and read all of these so called literate people crucify this person, Nita.

She told ALL of you from the start that she was asking questions. She also told each of you she found what a person of the Muslim faith had written about some of the passages. She ain’t took nothin out of context as far as I could see. She just told you all what she had seen and heard and expressed concerns. And the way another cut her down bein a teacher, now that was low. Hav you ever been in a room of 18 kindergarten youngins runnin around for a day. By George that will give you so kinda faith if you ain’t got one already. Now the way I see it, you all are hypocrites, except for nbr and maybe one more. Now that person showed some tact. She actually answered some of her concerns!! Each of the others, so called non-prejudice oh my someone gave an opinion do-gooders, clobbered her then turned around and gave her their beliefs and nasty comments. Some of you act as though her way is not the right way and yours is only. Are you saying she can’t come on this site, but all of you can and you think you are any better?! Well this ol veteran says BULL HOCKEY!!!

I think before you start stabbing at some person that seems to be a decent and concerned person, you need to take a good look a yourself and judge what you see in the mirror every morning before ya start on someone else.

I myself have served my time so I have a right to say I get firing mad when you say things like you know what you are talking about. You don’t know doodly!! I have seen more than any of you wet behind the ears blow hards!!

To that Lorna person, you go ahead and frisk’em honey! Might be something you been wanting to do anyway! That Nita told you to begin with she don’t know no one of that faith and she ain’t said nothin to cut one down. She told you that!! And if you could read before your mouth shot off you would have knowd it. But you go ahead and have that lunch and drink of coke that will eat the crap out of a toilet in two days! Then you tell how you were chewed up and spit out by this ol’ man!

Oh yea, to the person that kept talkin how Obama would be better! Better read some more yo sel. One of his big supporters through all of this was the KKK themselves. So eat that salad while drinking the coke.

  • yeny

i am a 20-year-old girl. I run into this page unexpectedly. When i was reading the comments i was so surprised to find how religion is so capable of starting argument. My family is catholic, my best friend is atheist and my husband is christian. I dont care if my president is muslim or buddhist or christian or gay or straight. If oprah supports him, if fidel castro supports him, if joe the plumber supports him. All i care about is that i see a bright future ahead of us. God is not running this country. Is us. We can pray all we want and another katrina will happen. God gave us the freedom to do as we please. And how do anyone interprets someone who says you’re dirty when on your period? Or kill children that make fun of bald men? Do we ignore those parts and only read the good ones? What about marrying the man that rape you? The bible does not run the world. Its us. I believe in the lord. But i also believe in a change. If we were to live by the church again we’d go back to the inquisition! No thank you.
