Now I’ve busted on homegirl before for wearing her way down the food chain, but this little 1-2 takes the cake! Mary is pictured here on the way into a Gucci UNICEF dinner in New York City wearing a jacket made from Winnie the Pooh, Smokey The Bear and those cute Charmin cubs from the bath tissue commercial. 

In case you haven’t noticed, Mary is also wearing a fur scarf, black leather boots and a heart of coal. Jeez!

    You’d think someone would be a little more humble in dress especially if they are to support UNICEF. The cost of her attire would be enough to feed Ethiopia, not to mention clothe the homeless who can hardly afford a decent pair of underwear.

    I think the photos speaks for itself in terms of her ingeniousness toward the issue in the first place.

    I did a bachelor/ette fundraiser last year for Humane Society (We raised nearly 20k in just over a 2 hours thankyou ;-)

    But one of the main bachelorettes wore a huge pelt fur coat. I didn’t have the guts to go up and tell her how tasteless she was (even wore the thing half the night- I’m much more timid and nice than I am online ;) But now I wish I had…

    But this is so overkill. She is a furry ho! LOL

    I like her music, but her taste in clothes is poor. She’s responded to PETA before regarding fur saying something along the lines of, “I can wear what I want.” Of course, that’s true, but ignoring where your clothes come from is, well, ignorant.

    C’mon, Mary, if you want to wear the skins of abused animals who were skinned alive, that’s your decision, but it looks really, really TACKY and arrogant at a charity event.

    Hi Chuck,

    Just by chance I was pretty reserved in my post above (compared to some posts I’ve written on here ;-) BUT it must have been because I was in a good mood or something ;-)

    Bottom line I think most of us responded like this because quite frankly I don’t think Mary J loser is very bright and if, by some lucky chance, she might see this on the internet it’s the only thing she could relate to or understand.

    uh, guys? you need to tone down the verbal assault. As an anti-fur advocate myself, i understand how much you’re bothered by that tasteless outfit, however, by being so vicious you are actually doing more harm than good. people may support our views, but most are not willing to listen to someone with such harsh criticism, and as a result, tune us out on the grounds of extremism. so please, for the animals sake as well, please be more civilised the way you address people in your comments?

    Tree-hugger is right; whenever I come to this site I enjoy reading the stories and usually learn something along the way. But whenever I venture to read the comments, there is such vitriol and hate that it is hard to take. Not agreeing with someones choice is fine, but to spew such disdain and hatred takes away from the message.

    If any of you ignorant Mary J fans knew that fur = slavery… you wouldnt be so quick to protect her heartless ass. Animals on fur farms spend their entire lives confined to cramped, filthy wire cages. Fur farmers use the cheapest and cruelest killing methods available, including suffocation, electrocution, gassing, and poisoning. With so many available alternatives to animal fur, Whether it comes from minks, foxes, raccoons, chinchillas, beavers, rabbits, or lynxes, fur looks best on its original owners. People who wear fur are pathetic, and we should say something to them ALWAYS – otherwise we are letting down the animals. Many fashionistas we know wouldn’t be caught DEAD wearing the atrophying skins of anally electrocuted, tortured animals to look absolutely gorgeous. There are faux fur options that look just as luxe. And I love the idiots who say “what about human rights” — the animal rights people are ALWAYS working on every facet of injustice. I’m glad to see there are others who realize that the likes of J lo and Beyonce are nothing but selfish idiots who care more about their image than the animal torture in which they participate. As far as I’m concerned, they are nothing but scum, not much better than the monsters who actually skin these animals alive or electrocute them up the ass so that they fry from the inside out.
