Also, last time I checked the majority of human population will eat meat if given a chance. That makes us, by definition, omnivores whether you like it or not. It’s delusional to try to argue that humans are herbivores since primates are herbivores because: 1) many primates are omnivores, 2) taxonomy and diet are completely separate issues.

i HAVE lived in several areas with an “overpopulation” of deer (including – sadly enough – pennsylvania – right in the area they filmed “deer hunter”) i’ve never hunted deer or any animal and knock wood – never hit & killed an animal in all my years of driving…

i will say though that what i believe is happened is this sick thing called (sub)urban sprawl that we have has encroached on these beautiful majestic animals’ land. i bought a 54 year old house in the heart of the city so that i would not contribute to this sprawl (we even have a “deer problem” here in florida)

i think what we have is a HUMAN overpopulation problem… and sadly, in the US, the people feel the need to clear (wait clear is too nice of a word) they need to RIP down every last beautiful tree and live far far from the city or center of town. tearing down countless forests to build their identical ugly poorly built new homes… yuck.

i’m not religious but remember as a little girl being in catholic school and reading Genesis and seeing how they lived in HARMONY with the animals in the garden of Eden and ate only the fruits nuts veggies and seeds – all fresh (and organic of course and then Eve screwed up (blame it on the woman of course) got tempted by the snake , ate the fruit and suddenly we weren’t friends with the animals and we killed them and ate them.

i remember being horrified when i read this as a little girl. i knew in my heart at age 6 it wasn’t meant to be that way. i refused to eat meat and knew i wanted to live in harmony with animals and live like they did in “Eden” and eat like the gorillas……

I think kids are more insightful than adults. Sadly the adults have been inundated by 1,000,000 commercials of McDonalds and the meat industry etc…………

I feel healthier eating no meat.

Hate to break it to you but hunting actually increases deer populations and makes it more likely a deer (probably running for her life) will go through your kid sister’s windshield. Hunting increases deer populations because so-called “wildlife management” agencies intentionally clear forests to make more grazing land for deer in order to increase their populations and increase revenues from sales of hunting permits. Hunters, who kill for fun and trophies, also tend to kill the big, strong animals instead of the weak and sickly animals, which weakens the herds and leads to disease and starvation.

I’ve got a better idea for those benevolent hunters who kill deer in order to save them from overpopulation (actually habitat destruction caused by human overpopulation). It’s called the hunter sterilization program. It will help curb human overpopulation and help preserve some of the deers’ natural habitats and it will also limit number of ignorant, redneck comments about how hunters are doing us all a favor. Gag!

But i do agree that that poor buck is (or WAS) more steroid free then the one whole murdered him :’(

Some of my family might think I’m a freak with my ‘weird’ veggie organic diet and hemp clothing (you should check out these cool hemp heels I just found online) but finally they’re starting to listen. … Finally. Whether they like the clothes I have or they want to lose a few pounds .. or give a crap about the animals… Finally they’re coming around.. I hope the rest of the world does too.

And yes, I think a cow or pig (smarter than a deer) has a lot worse life living her whole life in captivity than the deer who lived in freedom until he was killed.

So quit the cow the pig (and the chicken) It’s easier than you think
