Embarking with the Sea Shepherd Society this week on a crash course with the Japanese whaling fleet, Daryl Hannah criticized Greenpeace for failing to send their own vessel. While not as bold in their tactics as Sea Shepherd, Greenpeace in previous years has monitored the hunt and kept tabs on Japanese actions. For the first time his year, they’ve decided to instead focus on swaying public opinion in Japan. This has upset the 48-year-old actress.
“If Greenpeace would join forces with Sea Shepherd they would shutdown the whaling industry right away. If they were really serious and held their convictions they could accomplish this,” Hannah told Australian Associated Press.
For her part, Hannah will only be involved for the first week of Sea Shepherd’s campaign. Captain Paul Watson expects to be at sea disrupting the whaling hunt until March. Interestingly, however, the LA Times is reporting that Hannah hinted she may join the crew at a later date in the campaign after fulfilling work obligations.

Daryl Hannah is a crackpot! Wasn’t she recently tree-sitting on someone’s empty lot in downtown LA? She should’ve been charged with trespassing! And Paul Watson?? Gimme a break! This loser got himself kicked out of Greenpeace! How far out in left field do you have to be to accomplish that??
Daryl shows up and delivers when she takes a stand. Sure, there is some punishment, as in the first comment, but that means she is doing something significant.
I support Daryl’s words and actions in this regard.
If you question her integrity, then check out her site. I certainly wouldn’t want “One Eye” coming after me.
Upon learning that Greenpeace has refused to assist the Sea Shepherd I am now considering supporting ONLY Sea Shepherd Conservation instead of splitting my contributions between the two of them. Greenpeace has been an effective organization but the fact is that only the Sea Shepherds are ACTUALLY saving HUNDREDS of whales each year. I say first do whatever it takes to save the whales and settle the differences on your own time.
As many other Sea Shepherd supporters, I am very pissed at the stand that Greenpeace has taken by sitting on the side line and critcizing Paul Watson, I thought that the welfare of the animals is more important to them than whatever differences they have with other humane organizations I guess I was wrong. I was and still a big supporter of Paul Watson’s method and he gets my outmost respect. The way things are with the Japanese I feel that the whales will be getting more protection from the Sea Shepherd than the politics of the greenpeece organization. I am sure that Greenpeece have helped with many other causes but this problem is very critical and their help will make a big defference specially when it’s out on a cable network watched by foreign countries and millions of viewers. And in regard of the idiot Howard Hughes and his stupid comment, The issue is the killing of the Whales that needs to be dicussed and not Darryl Hannah.
Yet another celebrity who feels the need to offend her fans. When will these actors and actresses just shut up and act? Her association with that nut jub Watson has assured that we will not be spending any more money on her movies. Does she even make movies anymore? How sad.
