Got your attention? Good. I was going to launch into an article about Obama’s pick for Energy Secretary, but I found these photos from last year first and thought I’d share. Just to recap, last December 21st, then Senator Barack Obama left a cafe in New Hampshire and whipped up a snowball to throw at spokesman, Robert Gibbs. The first one missed, but second nailed him square in the head. Hilarious. Just another reason to enjoy the humor of the new President-elect.
But on a more serious note, the choice of Energy Secretary in the Obama administration has been on the mind of environmentalists ever since November 4th. Finally, it’s been announced that the post will be headed by Nobel physics laureate Steven Chu.
There’s reason to believe that Chu will lead the U.S. in a more “pro-green” direction — especially with his research into biofuels, firm belief in global warming, and staunch support of energy conservation and efficiency. “Get rid of the wasteful habits and inefficiency and that, by far and away, will show the biggest gains in the short term,” he told Reuters in a May 2007 interview.
