I know, Katy, right? I was a wannabe-veggie for a looong time before I finally said “Aw, what the hell?” and chucked meat forever. I used to tell my vegetarian friends, who wisely tried to encourage and never once criticized me, that I wanted so badly to be a vegetarian, but I loved steak. Steak?!? Now I’m revolted by it. Now I think chicken is actually easy to give up. I hope Katy goes for it!

it kills me when people complain about how hard it is. it’s hard for almost everybody. i think a very small percentage of people give up meat and/or dairy because they dislike it. you just have to make a choice and stick with it. although, it’s funny, b/c i know it was hard at the time, but now when i think back EASY! and so worth it.

Funny I never liked chicken (even as a child- and steak was never my thing) But duck? omg. I admit I miss it from time to time.

Veggie Tart, if there isn’t a mentor program set up then there should be:). It is hard to make the transition if you don’t feel supported in it. Glad to know that you’re on board if there is/ever is one.

I hear ya, girlfriend. That was the last flesh food I gave up. My only regret is that I didn’t do it sooner.

I think it might be easier to remember that vegetarians were past meat eaters if more vegetarians were open about what it was like to transition from eating meat to being a vegetarian….like a veg. transition mentor program or something

Almost all vegetarians at one time loved chicken. I wish people would remember that vegetarians were, in the past, meat eaters and that we did and are doing fine.

you can do it Katy! It’s not that hard. There are great faux chicken foods out there like Health is Wealth Nuggets, Chicken-Style Seitan, etc. Just look in whole foods in the veg section. If you can kiss a girl and like it, you can also eat a faux chicken and like it. I promise.
