The Jamaican sprinter and Olympic sensation, Usain Bolt, has launched a fashion line in partnership with Sun Island Jamaica Limited. Bolt’s line will help support charities that better the island nation of Jamaica, including the Jamaica United Way to which he recently donated $100,000. The actual clothes will be divided into three lines to target different markets: a souvenir line, an Urban Line, and a line of Signature Polo shirts featuring the “To the World” pose he became known for at the Beijing Olympics.
“We felt that aligning ourselves with Sun Island, we could reach out to charities which would have a significant impact on society,” Norma Peart, Blot’s longtime manager, told the Jamaica Observer.
The line will be available in men’s and women’s styles in Europe, Asia and the Pacific. In addition to the charities it will support, Bolt’s European line will also feature organic cotton fabrics and be printed with environmentally friendly inks using state-of-the-art digital direct technology.
“We are just trying to help to better Jamaica,” Bolt said.
