Don’t get me wrong, I love John Lennon — but there’s something about digitally bringing back celebrities from the dead to promote today’s causes that’s a bit macabre. Nevertheless, twenty-eight years after his death, the former Beatle is doing a TV ad for the Cambridge-based One Laptop Per Child initiative. The charity aims to deliver tough, solar-powered computers to the world’s poorest children at a cost of less than $200 per machine. Check it out below:

Um, no….
I’m all for the charity but the whole John Lennon thing seems wrong
Yeah that is kinda creepy. I wonder if there is a similar program for kids in the US? I know that there are a lot of inner city schools that can’t provide books to their students so a laptop would help if the teachers based assignments on electronic information instead…
It’s like that uncanny valley…
That’s very creepy. Oy. And hil, I agree; there are plenty of children in the U.S. who could use better educational tools.
I wonder if Yoko had to give her OK for this, and if so, how much money she derived from it, and where the money went.
