A few weeks ago, we gushed when PETA named us as “in” for 2009 — but they went a bit further by also naming us “Most Animal-Friendly Celebrity Blog” as part of their recent 6th Annual Proggy Awards. We’re not sure how many other “Animal-Friendly Celebrity Blogs” are out there, but it’s nice to be recognized.

From the beginning, including content on campaigns and initiatives to alleviate the suffering of animals was always a goal of this site. Celebrities have a long history of aligning themselves with organizations like PETA, HSUS, Farm Sanctuary, Sea Shepherd, and others. We felt it only fitting to include such efforts alongside humanitarian, environmental, and charity work. Truly, a world with respect and compassion towards all creatures is a vision worth fighting (and writing!) for.

To check out all the winners for 2008 — including “Most Animal-Friendly Movie”, “Most Vegetarian-Friendly Convenience Store”, and “Most Animal-Friendly Video Game” — hit the 6th Annual Proggy Awards here.
