Beyoncé Knowles Donates Millions To Drug Treatment Center

beyonce_millions As many already know, Beyoncé Knowles will be staring as Etta James in Cadillac Records — the new film version of the legendary singer’s life. What people don’t know is that Sasha Fierce (aka Beyonce) donated her entire $4 million salary from the film to the Phoenix House – the drug treatment center she spent weeks in prepping for the role.

“Her incredibly generous gesture to Phoenix House comes as no big surprise to those close to her,“ a source told Britain’s The Daily Star. “Without fanfare or publicity of any kind she has quietly given away millions to causes that move her. I don’t think she’s ever before given away such a large amount to one organization but she clearly believes that many people, possibly thousands, would die without their help. We’re talking about people here who can’t afford $20,000-plus a week to check themselves into Promises in Malibu or the Betty Ford Clinic. These people are hand-to-mouth street junkies and without groups like Phoenix they wouldn’t stand a chance of recovery. Beyoncé has acted, like she always does, from the heart and if she’s helped save even one life over Christmas she’ll consider every last cent well spent.”

Phoenix House runs 98 residential and outpatient rehab programs throughout the US, and treats over 5000 addicts a day.

While we had some beef with Knowles before for sporting fur, one can’t help but be moved by this generous donation. Good work, B!

I wish her compassion and generosity would extend the animals that are anally electrocuted and skinned alive in the name of her vanity.

Maybe someday…I and the 1000s of dead animals in her wardrobe hope so.

It is really cool when someone this wealthy is moved by a cause and donates. I know in the comments above ya’ll wish she would donate to other causes too, but by human nature we are each usually moved by specific events in our lives and then give to that cause. It’s just what makes humans diverse.
I hope it motivates other rich people to help out those who are in dire need. Especially in this failing economy!

It is a grand gesture to give away $4 million dollars. I applaud it.

Do i wish it would go to an animal cause? Yeah, probably. But it is not my money, it was hers. A good deed is a good deed.

That’s great and all BUT until she swears off fur I’m over her.

I remember when, was it Peta (?) “won” a contest to have dinner with her and they whipped out a small video monitor and showed her the videos and trying to talk to her about it.

I think this is great. Addiction treatment is certainly low on most peoples charity contribution list. Everybody knows someone who could use some help

It’s not so much that i wish she gave the money to an animal charity, that is not what i’m saying personally.

What i am saying is she gives money but LIVES in a very uncompassionate way. That is what i don’t get and wish she would strive to change about herself.

It’s not like the money didn’t go to a go cause, and hey!…it is one less fur coat in her closet…..maybe

I think that’s great that Beyonce gives charitably without looking for publicity.
