Why the hell would anyone use fur with some many great non-animal fabrics out there. How retrograde is your thinking Jason? Get some original ideas that don't harm animals. Here's an idea why not use your own flesh for your next collection?

"but I still think fur elicits a strong reaction from a lot of people regardless of their stance on veganism and animal rights"
yeah, i completely agree with that. :-)luckely much has changed the last decades and wearing fur becomes less and less accepted .
i merely commented on the previous suggestion that black and gay communities might be fur friendly , suggesting that other communties like whites and straights are that much more strong anti fur, which as a group they ain't. Look at celebs like Britney Spears, 98% of her white female fans couldnt care less if she wears fur yes or no, at least wouldnt boycot her for that reason.

Sorry - my "you are so totally wrong on that one" was to the person who said that no one cares about fur except vegans and animal rights activists. I know many many many carnivores who think fur and its continued place in society are wretched and vulgar and foul, so I think really it's kind of a universal stigma unless you're a selfish, vain pig. I know when I was a meat eater, if I saw someone wearing a fur I immediately thought less of them. Perhaps it's hypocritical, but I still think fur elicits a strong reaction from a lot of people regardless of their stance on veganism and animal rights. Because it is gross and ugly.

And yes - Erin - I wholeheartedly agree with you. We should start boycotting him NOW and get the word out before he can even launch his fur line.

arggh so difficult to tell who is responding to whom since half of comments are approved immediately, half are not (so time stamp does not even help)

Hey by no means was I saying it was a gay lifestyle. I was just quoting my friend. I don't think it's a Gay or "African American" lifestyle as someone else suggested.

Granted many African American celebs might have helped start the "Bling" trend but neither Beyonce or Aretha Franklin (both amazing artists - even if they're meat eating non eco types who don't seem to give a crap about animals or the environment) did not wear a stitch of fur to perform at the Inauguration!

I think channels like Mtv (ruined today's music and cultural standards in society) might glamorize wearing lots of fur and leather.. but perhaps even they'll change their tune as we get a new leader (who is breaking black stereotypes left and right!)
