Bruce Springsteen Regrets Deal With Shady Chain Store Wal-Mart

walmart-emplThere’s something about Wal-Mart that just kinda makes you roll your eyes, am I right? With it’s obsession over low-prices, Wal-Mart has managed to forget just about every other virtue in the world — including standing up for their worker’s right. 

Bruce Springsteen recently told the New York Times that  he ”dropped the ball” by making a deal with the giant chain devil to exclusively sell a Springsteen greatest-hits CD. Bruce said: “It was a mistake. Our batting average is usually very good, but we missed that one. Fans will call you on that stuff, as it should be.”

Springsteen has been a longtime supporter of worker’s rights and claims to have received flack from fans for his thoughtless decision.

While I’m not happy about the deal, I think it was WAY responsible for Bruce to admit he made a mistake. What do you think about Spingsteen’s decision and later apology? Are you and the Bruce man cool? Chime in and share your thoughts.

    I think Bruce probably does not make all his day-to-day decisions…and besides that photo of the Boss is totally Photoshopped

    It was a mistake? C’mon. If it was a big mistake and he is against wal-mart so much then he should give away the money from the deal to even shadier people……wal-mart watch or wake up wal-mart and thier financials backers.
    Or better, why not refuse to let wal-mart sell his music? But since they are only behind iTunes in music sales, my guess is that he probably doesn’t think it was that dumb of a choice.

    Everyone makes their mistakes. And granted, Springsteen probably does not make all marketing decisions regarding his image. But the fact that he owned up to this “shady deal” makes him still “The Boss” to me.

    I’m tired of everyone knocking him for the deal. Sure it was a mistake. But also i’m tired of all these people who knock Wal-mart, but probably shop there anyway. Low prices are low prices, & I don’t see or know anyone who is boycotting Wal-mart because of their labor practices. Do you?

    Bruce’s deal has a clause where WalMart cannot return unsold product. So Bruce gets his cash up front, then rips Wally World, and tries to look “responsible”. What a fraud.

    He made a mistake and he admitted it. That’s good enough for me. I’m sure also that he does not make the day-to-day decisions on what goes on.

    He’s still The Man to me. Always will be.
