Woodstock FAS Exclusive: Janeane Garofalo Preaches Obama, Palin and Bacon

February 12th 2009

jg1

There are a lot of misconceptions about Janeane Garofalo out there: she’s a vegan, she defines Gen X, she turned down the role of Monica on Friends, she’s my best friend’s stepmother’s cousin (that’s not a joke…Janeane confirmed this wasn’t true). So what IS the truth about Janeane G? Well she’s not afraid to speak her mind, for one thing! We got a chance to chat with Janeane at Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary’s Komedy For Karma event last night. Check out the interview below!

Ecorazzi: How did you first get involved with Woodstock?

Janeane Garofolo: I can’t remember now. I think we interviewed them while I was working at Air America. I think we interviewed Jenny. So I believe I became involved when I was working at Air America and we just kept in touch.

E:You were a vegetarian for 18 years…

JG: Right, but I’m no longer a vegetarian.

E: I read that.

JG: I’m a vegetarian except for bacon. The amount of times I eat bacon is negligible though. I’d say I eat bacon once or twice a year. But other than that — no meat at all.

E: Now I know you’re very politically involved. Are you excited to see Obama in office?

JG: Yes, very. But I’m not excited when he panders to the right wing. I’m not excited about that at all. Democrats make that mistake all the time. The DLC is responsible. They think it’s prudent to pander to the least among us – which would be conservatives. And it’s a very vocal minority. They’re just the squeakiest wheel so they get greased.

When Obama tries to “reach across the aisle,” it’s a fool’s errand. They will never be bipartisan because their ideology won’t allow for it. So I don’t know why Obama is doing things like taking reproduction justice out of the stimulus package. Stuff like that is just nonsensical.

E: What are three things you’d like to really see Obama change in this country?

JG: I’d like to see him be a proud liberal and say it. You know what I mean? There’s no shame in being a liberal – it’s something to be very proud of. He should say it – cause he is one – and he should be proud to be one. And since it is clear and has been clear since Reagan that the republicans, the “conservatives” will NEVER play ball…NEVER…fu%$ um.

Their policies have destroyed us and most of the world – that’s a fact not an opinion. Their policies of deregulation, pre-emptive strikes, unmitigated support for Israel to the detriment of the Israelis, Palestinian’s, Americans, the British. Every single policy that “conservative republicans” have put forth since Reagan has destroyed us. And we affect most of the world, so why do they still get a say? That’s what blows my mind. It’s almost like self-flagellation or masochism in some way. We keep going to that portion. They are NEVER going to compromise. The thing is that the more you give in to something like that, the more they take advantage.

The reason a person is a conservative republican is because something is wrong with them. Again, that’s science – that’s neuroscience. You cannot be well adjusted, open-minded, pluralistic, enlightened and be a republican. It’s counter-intuitive. And they revel in their anti-intellectualism. They revel in their cruelty.

I don’t know if you heard me talking to Jenny a while ago, but I was saying that first you have to be an asshole and then comes the conservatism. You gotta be a dick to cleave onto their ideology.

E: This might be an appropriate time to segue into Sarah Palin. I would love to know what you think about Palin.

JG: Probably what most people think about Sarah Palin. She’s small-minded and mean-spirited. It has nothing to do with gender — I don’t give a shit about her gender — she is what the Republican Party has become: obstructionist, contrarians, small-minded, all of these things. She just happens to be attractive. There’s definitely something wrong with her. She’s lacking in so many areas. Of course she’s successful with a segment of the country because she represents that lesser segment of the country. It’s people’s lesser nature – their human frailty. You know whatever’s wrong with them is what she is about.

E: I think it’s safe to say she’s done some pretty nutty things.

JG: It’s not even nutty. It really is neuroscience. I truly believe that it has something to do with their limbic brain. I really believe that some people’s limbic brain dominates more than others. Our limbic brain controls all our emotions and it causes us to be irrational. Our limbic brain goes into action when we’re ecstatic, frightened, when we’re having sex. I really believe that if a neuroscientist examined the brain of somebody who identified as a conservative, they would find it’s wired differently.

E: I know you’re about to do your set, so I don’t want to keep you. Are there any projects you have in the works?

JC: I just wrapped on 24. I’m sort of always doing stand-up. I’m doing some dates here, San Francisco, Portland, England, Ireland, Melbourne. So just waiting for another job. I think I might be doing another series on USA next year, but it’s still just theoretical.

A big thank you to Jeneane Garofolo for taking the time to chat with us. And also much thanks to Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary for arranging this interview. You guys rock!

  1. Funny how the site is suddenly full of followers of the Church of Palin. I wonder if this article got featured on FOX “News” or something. Sadly not one of them has been able to produce anything but personal attacks and mindless drivel against Janeane. I guess that’s what you can expect from the followers of a person who doesn’t know Africa is a continent.

  2. Wow FBR… As pleased as I am to see you saying something against Palin – I’m confused. You always argue us when we talk of hunting and the issues she supports. So have you turned over a new leaf? or you just doing what most have accused you of doing on this site arguing for arguments sake.

    Erin

  3. Erin, I’m black! So much for your assertion that we’re “ALL white trash.” Get it together! And by the way, some people love babies and actually understand that they are blessings from God. “Popping out babies”? Not sure why I’m even responding to you. Clearly, you have major issues. Your use of the term “white trash” shows your lack of character. You need deliverance. Anyone who makes elitist, racial comments as you did, and anyone who attacks a politician’s children needs more help than we could possibly give you here. But we should certainly be praying for you.
    http://www.motivationtruth.com

  4. Erin, I think FBR is challenging the Church of Palin on more than just hunting…

  5. I’m SO sorry but I can’t help it.
    It’s stronger than me…:

TO ALL OF YOU BITTER palin LOVERS, you urgently need to get laid!!!

Maybe that will sweeten you a little bit and you’ll stop spreading your HATRED around!!!

I promise you that after a good shag you’ll feel all better and relaxed ;)
Just think of those seconds before reaching an orgasm! Doesn’t that make you want to go to your partner for some hanky panky and leave this site once and for all?

Oh, but please use some type of contraceptive method! We already have too many people like you in this world, ok?

    :)

  6. Whole lot of censorship of conservative posts on this site, especially if they have a valid argument that the left and whacked-out Jeanane can’t possibly win. Sewer rats! If you don’t have the guts to post what we write, go crawl back in your sewer!

  7. Typical comments from the mouth of a third rate actress and her always present hatred of conservatism..you people seem to be bent on your own brand of diversity when it suits you best…you morons keep it up out there..strength is in numbers and we lie low..you won’t know what hit you…

  8. Interesting how Jeanane hates conservatives but sure likes to take their money (24). Hypocrite loser. Stick to comedy so when we laugh at you you will think we’re laughing at your joke. You’ll be happier.

  9. Well, it appears that Jeanane will be joining the republican party any day now since her characteristics fit so well by her definition. I mean, by her definition, she’s absolutely a conservative!

Also, just wondering when Jeanane became a neuroscientist? Wow, now she might be able to get a job doing something to keep her ugly face and greasy hair off 24 and in front of conservatives. Oh, I forgot, she IS A CONSERVATIVE. Pardon me.

  10. If the republican brain is wired differently than the liberal brain, then I would have to say that the conservative brain wiring is the original default position. Whacked out liberals like Garafalo didn’t appear on the scene en masse until the advent of the drug culture in the 60’s. And you know what kind of brain damage drugs can do.

My sympathies Jeanane. Maybe you can find a neuroscientist who can help you rewire that thing on top of your shoulders. You’d be happier.

  11. Bacon Jeanane? Wow, another conservative trait. You really are confused sweetie.

By the say Jeanine, did you know that pork contains worms (microorganisms) that ARE NOT KILLED by HEAT? Yep, honey. You might reconsider eating that bacon next time.

  12. Actually, I just thought of something. Maybe Jeanane has some worms in her brain from that bacon that is causing her mental problems. Think so?

  13. Adrienne,

I’m so sorry if I’m being a racist calling fellow white people “white trash” How in God’s name (pun intended) is that being a racist? If I am being a racist for assuming that the majority of Palin supporters are white – well they are. Hence the white trash statement I stand by (which was more directed at Palin herself than her white trash supporters) You are the first African American (or black – as you used) person I have ever met who is a Palin supporter and I’ve met a lot and worked campaigns. The first I’ve met (or seen online) from East to West coast over the last year.

    Erin

  14. This is no different than radical Islam that considers anyone who does not fit into their views as the enemy and needs to be destroyed. This is why you need to be fearful about your constitutional rights with the liberal left.

  15. Janeane Garofalo is simply filled with hate and intolerance. She is hatefilled and intolerant of anyone who is not like her.

That’s HATE Janeane. You are more intolerant of those you disagree with than they are of you. We tolerate you and your beliefs. We defend your right to be stupid and idiotic.

You are a leftist Janeane and it is campus LEFTISTS that have mastered the “Shout Down.” From David Horowitz, to The Minutemen, to Ann Coulter, to John Leo, to Sarah Palin at the Republican National Convention, leftists use the “SHOUT DOWN” to silence anyone they disagree with.

It is LEFTISTS that try to make laws (Fairness Doctrine)to silence their opponents.

It is LEFTISTS that attempt to end debate by accusing those who disagree with Obama of being racists.

It is LEFTISTS that are intolerant. Republicans and conservatives are ten times more tolerant than American Leftists such as Janeane Garofalo.

  16. Erin Raw foods retreat,

Thank you for responding. Actually, you didn’t say the majority of Palin supporters are white trash; you said they ALL are. I stand by my comment that your words are racist. It matters not that you happen to be white when you say so. Yes, you can be white and still make racially insensitive, clearly prejudiced comments about your own kind. And use of the term “white trash” qualifies. You say that I am the only African-American you have “met” who supports Sarah Palin. That may be so, but I definitely am not the only one–and while some 90% of Black people vote Democratic every time, the truth is that our values as a people do not align themselves with the Democratic agenda. It is my belief that those people who blindly follow a Party that is antithetical to their core values are yet on the plantation. I, however, have been emanicipated and am free to think for myself. I line up my vote with my values, thus my support of Governor Palin. I address this issue thoroughly in my blog at http://www.motivationtruth.com. My posts “Get Off The Plantation” and “DON’T BE AFRAID TO SEE WHAT YOU SEE” might be an eye-opener for you. Too many of my people leave their true beliefs outside the voting booth and pick them up when they exit, for they have been bamboozled into making liberals their masters. I’m not one of those people. But whether Black, white, or otherwise, calling people trash because they don’t agree with you is part of the problem. It is elitist, it IS racist, and it’s just plain wrong.

  17. What else can I say. Janeane Garofalo, Al Franken, Alec Baldwin, Matt Damon, Sean Penn, Leo DeCaprio and Barbra Streisand: You people exemplify intolerance.

You leftists are completely intolerant of anyone who disagrees with you. You are full of hate. You want to silence your opponents. You want to silence me and people like me. You hate dissent.

I thought dissent was the highest form of patriotism. Oh. Only as long as you leftists were dissenting. That’s real patriotism. When I dissent I’m being a racist. Or white trash. I get it now.

Leftist dissent = patriotism. Conservative dissent = racism.

    I see.

    You people make me sick.

  18. This is HILARIOUS!! Where did these nutball conservatives come from? hahahaha… pathetic. Go cry in your beer, Bush lovers. Your time is OVER.

  19. Funny, I never cared enough about Garafalo before to ever research her background, but I did just do the Wikipedia thing on her. Now I understand the basis of her hate. It’s obvioulsy the result of self-hate turned outward. It seems she is the direct benefactor of the same Big Oil she and her ilk rail against. You see, her mom was a secretary in the petrochemical industry, and her father was an executive at Exxon. I kid you not, it’s what put bread on their table. Hollywood couldn’t have written a better plot twist.

  20. Oh well, just another intolerant liberal spewing what most Americans don’t want to hear. She and Air America failed miserably to attract any balanced minded listeners. The only way these hateful people can get anyone to listen is to force it by legislation. Grow up please.

  21. Oh, but GirlieGirlArmy, WE’LL BE BACK!!!!!!
    http://www.motivationtruth.com

  22. What a craven moron. The term ignorant does not begin to encapsulate the idiocy I just read in this interview.

  23. My oh my, did someone round up the handful of Palin supporters and send them on a mission to defend the ditz’s honor? These comments made me laugh out loud. Luckily Palin doesn’t have a chance in hell in getting voted into office…otherwise the ignorance of her supporters, as witnessed here, might bring me to tears.
Now, moving on to the legitimate issues facing this country…how about that failing economy the Republicans–with their inability to regulate the financial sector–left us…

  24. Dear Adrienne,

Thank you for *your* response as well. First and foremost please don’t call me a Liberal! Gee look you stereotyped me too! If you notice I quoted Dr. Ron Paul in my post 3 posts above and am a very very SMALL government Libertarian conservationist. I am not a huge government Christian like George Bush using God’s name to have a big fat war and make more money for my daddy Bush and relatives and rich black hating Neocon Repbulican friends like Dick “no morals” Cheney (who does not like gay or black people) you call THEM ethical!!????…. but back to that in a second.

“George Bush does not like Black people”

    - Kanye West (the truest words he ever uttered. Bush left thousands upon thousands of black people stranded in the South after the hurricane (and still many are homeless!) because he spent all the countries money on a war where guess who gets killed in these wars first!? That’s right the poor black soldiers…

As far as my quote; I actually said “I forgot all you gun loving gut bearing right wingers were ALL white trash too.” So yes I might be mistaken. Some of them might not be white – a better term I should have used would be redneck. Heck maybe that’s not even a good term (never heard of a redneck who isn’t white) I’ll think of a better one. Stereotyping – I might be guilty of – but being a racist? Against my own “people” I am a racist against white people? I think some of them are trashy if that makes me racist for calling them white trash then you can call me that. I would rather argue another point that you made.

You called the Democrats unethical to the core (and called me a Liberal in the same sentence/paragraph so I take it you’re calling me a Democrat? Again, I’m a Libertarian and a CONSERVATIONist working to conserve the land and the wolves and the natural green resources that God gave us. Unfortunately you’ve been brainwashed by Palin and Bush and McCain who pretend to be religious and use God’s name to influence you. Do you think if Christ came down to this earth today that he would A) want to hunt wolves from an airplane B) want to drill oil (drill baby drill!? SP quote) from the land his Father provided for us? C) Kill Polar bears and take them off the extinct list D) go to WAR with Russia “if necessary” or the Middle East and kill our own (more black men are killed in battle than white by the way) Because of course Bush and Palin want to send the black poor guys over there first. how CHRISTIAN of them.

Do you think that Christ would call himself a Pit Bull? or encourage Palin’s ignorant uneducated attitude!? (even she admits she cannot name one SINGLE publication that she reads!) She hadn’t even traveled outside her little secluded world and it’s so obvious she hates her fellow man in other countries and is so narrow minded and a WAR monger… She is LIBERAL. the words have all been twisted. Obama is more conservative than she is!

He wants to END the war, STOP the killings, SAVE the environment. He is a CONSERVATIonist! I am sorry if your church or something has got your mind all twisted. and sadly theirs were probably twisted by someone else. It’s such a shame.

Even as a Libertarian for YEARS i will say that the Democrats have been more ethical than the huge government NEOCON Republicans of the last administration. Bush ruined our environment, our economy, put lots of people to death (in the WAR, death penalty etc.. THOU SHALL NOT KILL! Do you think God would think the death penalty is right?

Did I ever say I’m “for” abortion? No I did not. I said there are fringe Republican Christians who are extremists in the anti abortion movement. Just as there are people bombing abortion clinics there are others just as crazy bombing animal experimentation labs. Abortions nor animal experimentation are good things but people shouldn’t be bombing the buildings. This is what I meant by extreme.

Again, I repeat Bush Palin McLame the whole bunch of them are not conservative! HA! how funny you call me a Liberal! And yourself a conservative? It is not conservative to support someone who doesn’t want to CONSERVE anything!

It is CONSERVATIVE not to have 14 babies like that psycho Octuplet mom or even 5 like Palin (especially if she can’t care of them) it’s not CONSERVATIVE to cut down forests, kill wolves from planes, drill up our land or any of the other NON conservative things this HEATHEN does.

    God bless you Adrienne,

    Erin

  25. God it is so clear to me that Palin is the furthest thing on this earth from conservative. I just had to reiterate that again. I wish God would come down here to earth right now and set all you Christians straight!

  26. (um, Erin, conservationists are /for/ hunting…. I’d think you were more of a preservationist, no??)

  27. Erin Raw foods retreat,

Your response to me was baffling, and I won’t get side-tracked on your side issues for too long. But very quickly, I never called you a Democrat. Read again. I never mentioned Bush. Read again. I didn’t discuss Sarah Palin’s travels to other countries. Read again. I called your comment concerning “white trash” racist, elitist, and wrong. It is all that. You went off onto all these different areas, which have nothing to do with my response to you. I will not allow my conversation to be crossed. As for the label you attach to yourself, it matters not. A rose by any other name is just as sweet. And the reverse is also true.

  28. Yet you did call me a Liberal. I don’t believe I said you called me a Democrat. And you did say that the Democratic party was unethical to the core – hence my reply on that matter and my reference to Democrats.

Feel free to respond to the rest of it. Sarah Palin being conservative etc…

JL – there are so many arguments out there against “pro hunting “conservation” groups. They can call themselves conservationists if they want. My mother left World Wildlife Fund after nearly a quarter century because they called themselves conservationists yet hunted. Go do a search . there are plenty of people and organizations out there who laugh at the hunters calling themselves that term. I am one of those people.

    Erin

  29. ps and yes JL you can call me a preservationist too if you like. The labels don’t really matter. And I’ve always maintained IF I ate meat I’d eat free range “hunted’ ducks before eating one from a factory farm. Palin wants to hunt wolves. NO one is eating wolves. They are eating the caribou which the wolves eat. Hence the reason they want to shoot the poor wolves who are doing their natural thing. Because then they can’t get money from the hunters if the caribou are all eaten. They want to shoot them. Not let the wolves eat them. It’s ridiculous. But somehow I think we’ve been through this before.

Oh and I’m into conserving the land, being conservative and having fewer children (in light of the octuplets mom they had on a scientist on cnn who said one of the worst environmental disasters one can create is having a ton of children (I have none and might have one- not sure yet) I drive a hybrid, used to have a total electric car, working with a company who says they can transform a car into solar. Conserving. using the sun. If you want to call all that liberal by means go ahead :) Labels are silly when you get right down to it. Bottom line. I don’t support environmental destroyers like like Bush and Palin. I am doing my best to support my President… Obama..

And Adrienne, of course you didn’t mention bush. You said the Republicans will be back in power (to the gal who pointed out how we got Bush out) you mentioned Palin but how could you mention the biggest representation of Republican corruption who just left office? That would be too obvious. It would like be having a discussion about Germany WW II without mentioning Hitler (and yes I do think Bush ranks somewhere down there near him)

    E

  30. Like that hottie near the top of this thread said = you christians need to get laid big time! If god came down to this planet today he’s be disgusted what they supposedly stand for.

erin they were vegetarians til the whore eve at the forbidden fruit then they had to hunt. but not palin style. she’ll rot in hell and god will send all the psuedo christians right down there with her.

    Big P

  31. erin

they were vegans in the bible til that ho Eve at ate the forbidden fruit remember?

now if god came down and saw these wanna be pseudo christians he’d send their asses all to hell right along with palin.

it’s a shame and these christians are “deplorable” and make a bad name for jesus and god. they suck and will all rot in hell.

    big p

  32. Don’t be so locked into your little partisan world, Erin. If you judge the Republican party (conservatives) based on the biggest mistakes of the Bush administration, can I do the same with your views.

Heck, can I judge you by the idiots that claim to be your friend?

Grow up. Get off the partisan bandwagaon, and look at the idea and not those who may misrepresent it.

I could just pick the lowest common denominator among the liberals (and they get pretty low) and say, “See? Liberalism is dumb.”

    But, I’m not like you.

  33. Erin @RawfoodsRetreat,

Once again you are mistaken. I never said that Democrats are “unethical to the core,” as you assert. I said, “It is my belief that those people who blindly follow a Party that is antithetical to their core values are yet on the plantation.” As I said before, read again. In other words, the vast majority of Black people, due to our spiritual heritage, do not ascribe to the tenets of the Democratic Party, that the Democratic agenda is antithetical (sharply contrasted with) the core values of most Black people, yet they vote for these people anyway. See, sometimes you can be so intent on making your point that you miss the original point because you’re reading things with your next argument in mind. Unlike you, I would not disparage ALL people of a particular segment, including Democrats. Many, as I said, are blindly following a system because they’ve been bamboozled. Since you, Erin, don’t ascribe to that Party, I would imagine you are not standing up for them.

Now that we have that cleared up, the right thing for you to do now would be to say, “Oh, Adrienne, now that I’ve looked back, I realize what you were saying. You didn’t call them unethical to the core. I’m so sorry.” But I won’t hold my breath.

As for Bush and Palin, like I said, I didn’t engage in conversation with you to discuss them. Bush, as our past president is behind us. We’re moving on, prayerfully back to our principles. Palin, as our future president, will be examined through the lense of history. I’m behind her 100%, and I respect your decision not to support her. That’s your decision, and you have a right to it. It’s the trashy stuff that minimizes the ability of others to take you seriously–and it says more about you than it does about the people you’re disparaging.

Back to my original point, yes, you can make racially insensitive comments to your own kind; thus, your comments would qualify as racist. As a teacher, when I hear Black students call other Black students the “N” word, I jump on it. I don’t care what their color is; they have no right to use that racially charged, insensitive word, which reveals that they have been conditioned toward self-hatred which is acted out in their racist (yes, racist) treatment of those who look like them. The term “white trash,” is elitist also. Who is one person to call another trash? What do you base that on? You base it on the self-deception that you are somehow better than someone else. Calling anyone of any race “trash” is ridiculous. You will continue to argue that point because you want to justify your comment, and I’m calling you on it. I don’ think it matters to you, however. And I’m not going to try to convince you anymore that those words are just plain wrong because “A man convinced against his will is of the same opinion still.”
    http://www.motivationtruth.com

  34. For some one who belongs to a party constantly demanding tolorance, this silly broad sure doesn’t hold these practices. In this interview she says;

“JG: It’s not even nutty. It really is neuroscience. I truly believe that it has something to do with their limbic brain.”

    Really?

Show me the science. What proof? Oh Wait, she said,”I believe”

    Well that sets it in stone then. As soon as these poeple believe in something it’s gospel and everyone better damn well agree or we will ruin them. Kinda sounds like a cult. Well in her word;

    F@#K Em

  35. I think it’s hilarious that all you Palin nuts actually think she has a chance of becoming president. That is NEVER going to happen. Ever.

  36. Dear Adrienne,

I’m never afraid to say if I read something too quickly. I had read it a few days earlier (and with hundreds of posts on here I did not go back to look- my mistake) But that’s no excuse. And yes I know the word ;) I can use big words in my posts too if you’d like.. I just try to keep it simple since obviously many people are reading this board. Please tell me how (or why or both) you believe the Democratic “agenda” sharply contrasts with the core beliefs of most black people. I am dying to hear that. And this time I read the post carefully so I know exactly what you said. Doesn’t mean I agree with it, but I’d like to know.

Here’s my feelings; while true, I don’t ascribe to party I’ve always believed their heart is in the right place compared to the Republican party.

If you recall you did assume I was a Liberal (I haven’t heard you admit THAT yet either- but again, you’re a bright woman and a good arguer (especially because you keep skipping over the fact you assumed I was a Liberal ;) But that’s ok you’d make an excellent politician – because you could debate as well as they are (or as well as FBR – another prime candidate as a politician) I don’t believe that (m)any politicians (besides maybe Ron Paul or Dennis Kucinich (a democrat who gets very little support or love) are very honest or sincere. I believe these guys are and that’s why they don’t have more followers – because they tell it like it is.

So again, would love to hear your answer to the question above. I’m always open to listening. I know I get fired up and call the folks white trash.. Is it racist? Or racist if someone who is black calls someone else the N word whether black or not? Hmmm, I don’t know if racist is the right word but elitist? If I call the others white trash am I being elitist in that instance (as you suggest) Sure.. just as the people above who call us much worse names are being elitist or rude or whatever term you want to use. The problem is with web-boards that most of us (not all ;) tend to say things we wouldn’t if we were all sitting around a table together.. For better or for worse :)

But I am generally curious A) why you thought I was liberal B) why you think that the black people’s values are so different than the Dem party? And C) if you thought there might be an iota of truth in what I said about the “green” people who care about the planet, don’t support hunting, coal, drill baby drilling, fighting, war, deaths of civilians, soldiers, etc.. that they might be more “conservative” than those who support the war, don’t recycle, drive a huge car, have huge tv’s, huge egos to boot ;) are meat eaters, kill wolves for show… is that conservative? I don’t recall and am too tired (nor have time) to re read all the old posts but best my memory serves me I don’t think you answered that.. You just thought my post was over the top and chose not to answer that part… Convenient yes, but since I think I’m being more than fair here (and admitting a fault no less ;) I’d love to hear your feelings on this.

Again, I maintain that if Christ were to land here on Earth tomorrow he’d fall more into the green friendly animal loving anti war category.. do you disagree?

and EJ Diaz. You speak of the “idiots” who chose to be my friends? My God I might have said Palin supporters were trashy but I sure didn’t attack anyone’s friends and call them idiots for choosing to be your friends. A bit harsh don’t ya think? You’ve been hunting too many wolves, take a break, and meditate and get back to me…

(and Phil – you have some good points but you’re might be more radical/nuts than Diaz!)

    Erin

  37. PS I thought I should just state that when I say compared to the Republican party- I mean the Republican party of today. Not the party when say Abraham Lincoln was on board. The party (and maybe politics in general) were more honest back then (hence the term Honest Abe I guess.. eh?)

I think the Republican party today – of off shore oil drilling pit bull identifying wolves shooting Russia hating “America is the only decent country” thinking big government war LOVING Republicans is anything but honest and just put our country in a downward spiral that we might never come out of..

    Erin

  38. “…that’s a fact not an opinion.”

Um, no. All of this is your opinion, Janeane. Mean-spirited, close-minded, intolerant opinion.

  39. You know what?

All this democrats/republicans debate is actually leading nowhere… in my opinion!

Maybe ‘you Americans’ as a people need to realize once and for all that you’ve not been living in a true democracy (you’re not the only ones obviously). And that you’ve been brainwashed for far too long… and I say this with the utmost respect for you and your country.

In fact you’ve been very well controlled and manipulated just as if you were living under a dictatorship. I just hope President Obama can change this situation very soon.

I recently watched “Bowling for Columbine” and “Fahrenheit 9/11″ and although many of you probably hate Michael Moore (I have no idea why), you should all watch these 2 documentaries. Maybe that would open the eyes of many of you. That is if you really want to see the truth…! Believe me that it sheds a lot of light on your lifestyle and it actually poses the main questions regarding the state of the USA and its biggest problems. It really makes you think about things you’ve never thought of before!

On the other hand, if you prefer to live the blissful little lie which is your daily life in the great USA, then don’t watch them and keep believing your life is under your complete control!!

It’s your choice! I for one prefer to know the naked and cruel truth and open my eyes, than being controlled and manipulated by others…

Ever wondered why this crisis emerged all of a sudden? I mean, no one saw it coming?
And coincidently it happened just when Barack Obama was becoming the favourite to win the elections (forget the polls – I’m talking about what the overall feeling was)? I don’t believe in coincidences! Barack Obama just reflects what people want all over the world – a real change – a fair society where there is no war, no cruelty to animals and humans, no hunger, no environmental destruction, no people left behind and where everyone can fulfil their own destiny (= doing what makes them happy)…
But the ones who control the world and thus the economy and ultimately our lives, couldn’t have that! Because fulfilled, informed, happy people have a higher level of conciousness and then they wouldn’t be so easily manipulated!!!

And no, this is not a conspiracy theory, it’s the truth… Just do some research on the internet…
    You can start with this:

  40. Great film whoever. They don’t want to see the truth. I can’t even get my big republican friends to watch documentaries. I’d watch theirs but there aren’t many. because docs are usually pretty smart and there aren’t that many pro republican documentaries. lol. the majority are overwhelmingly showing how bad they are, how unfair fox news and rupert murdoch are, the big polluting corporations they support etc.

Still waiting for a response from Adrienne. I cannot wait to hear it either. With my actual questions answered as I answered hers!

  41. You know Erin, it’s because of people who prefer to bury their heads in the sand than see what’s really going on around them that our societies worldwide are almost stagnant regarding the evolution process…

It’s hard to actually see the ‘truth’, because that means one would have to take responsibility for one’s life. It means there would be no one else to blame for one’s problems and unhappiness!!
And that is too much for many people to handle. Their little world would come tumbling down and all their dogmas would make no sense any more! Someone once said ignorance is a bliss… :)

Therefore it’s somewhat difficult for people who are a little bit more aware than the rest, to live among them because we can see what they can’t!
It’s like saying to toddlers that if they go near the fire they’ll get burn. But because they are not aware of it, they still do it and eventually end up getting burnt!
The difference is that zombified people, as a result of their ignorance, hurt others as well …

We also wrongly ‘evaluate’ people for what they have and for what they do as a living! We should ‘evaluate’ them for what they are instead…!

Oh well, what can one do!?

    ;)

  42. Whoever – America is not a Democratic nation, it is a Republic, with bits of democracy overlapping. Where are you from? If you can send so much blame our way, you must be from a great place.

Erin – I know you don’t like labels, but you should read up more on Conservation vs. Preservation. Shooting wolves, from a plane or on foot, is a Conservation strategy – managing the Earth’s resources, in a responsible/sustainable way, for the long-term benefit of humans. Which in the Alaskan argument, means Caribou.

Labels are important, only because they are the best way for us to refer back to the famous essays of old. From what I’ve read of your posts, you’d fall under the Muir/Leopold category, whereas I find myself agreeing more frequently with Pinchot’s ideals. Not that Pinchot would necessarily agree with aero-management… but the Fish & Game of the 50 states is a Conservation team.

The arguments of Preservationists usually fall in line with Animal Rights, whereas the arguments of Conservationists can go hand in hand with Animal Welfare.

  43. 148 comments about two strips of bacon a year?

  44. Be aware that there’s a fanatical racist evangelical extreme right fringe internet group of trollers (as many as 30 at a time) who travel in packs to any sites that have comments that are anti-Palin. They are all childish fans from teamsarah.org. They’ve been banned from other sites such as the Anchorage Daily News for one! They have pre-existing phrases they copy/paste over & over. You can tell all the stories they visit having to do with Sarah Palin…they comment at the same time & then all give each other recommendations…as if that’s going to change any ones opinons lol. They are a bunch of right wing ultra nuts who have been driven insane hahahahahahahah!

  45. Shooting wolves from a helicopter is an inefficient and ineffective conservation effort. Really, some rich folk thought it would be fun to hunt from a helicopter, and have used this veneer of conservation to try and avoid public outcry. Palin’s an absolute nightmare for animal rights of any kind.

So what I’ve gathered from all these posts is that people who support Obama (or democrats in general) have been “drinking the kool-aid”, whereas Palin supporters who just spout the same rhetoric over and over are… what? Somehow different?

  46. I agree 1000% with Steptoe & the rest!! Millions and millions LOVE LOVE LOVE Sarah….she is the ONLY hope for America. She is our bright and shining star beaming down on the USA from the north. I just can’t wait till she gets in the white house and shows everyone just how a country should be run and how wrong it was for THAT ONE to be there. GO SARAH/LIMBAUGH 2012! WE LOVE YOU SARAH!

  47. Janaene Garofalo is a really great person, and thinker, and citizen. She’s on-point, and brave, and a real intellect.

  48. Janeane (what kind of name is that?) is an undereducated, over-opinionated loser. She is bitter, just like First “Lady” O, but for different reasons (middle aged, short, unattractive) vs. MO (middle aged, hulking, awkward, unattractive).

Her comments about the “racist” tea parties ignore reality. We are tired of paying for the denizens of “urban culture”, who are intellectually lazy and perhaps even physiologically deficient.

Do us all a favor, Janeane, and try to accept that you are “over” with some grace. If you can’t say something nice, and intelligent, better to say nothing at all.

    George

  49. Jeanine Garofalo = not talented, not intelligent, not attractive, …

I guess you can understand why she is so angry; but who cares.

24 will suffer… I never want to see her and will not watch it again
