hayek_breastThis one has been well-covered all around the interwebs, but we wanted to throw a personal shout-out to Salma Hayek for her charity in providing food for a needy child. While on a charity mission in Sierra Leone, the actress came across a fellow mother unable to provide milk for her malnourished five-month-old son, so she breast-fed the tot herself. “The baby was perfectly healthy, but the mother didn’t have milk,” said Hayek, who is a recent mom. “He was very hungry. I was weaning my daughter Valentina, but I still had a lot of milk that I was pumping, so I breast-fed the baby. When he felt the nourishment, he immediately stopped crying.” You rock, Salma. 1. Love Salma for breastfeeding someone else’s kid! Wish more people were so selfless.

  2. That’s a BEAUTIFUL story about Salma. Amazing and generous and loving woman!

    Cheers,

  3. I can not stand the negative comments people were making on other sites! What Salma did was amazing, there seems to be some cultural hang ups here in the US in regards to breastfeeding. People made the comment that she embarrassed the mother, I highly doubt embarrassment was an issue. In many countries and cultures it is acceptable to feed another hungry baby. What she did was natural, humane, and beautiful.

  4. What she did was perfectly acceptable. If the mother was indeed embarrassed she should ask herself why. Her hungry baby received nourishment from this act of kindness.
