With the Oscars now over, we’re gearing up for the next big awards show on our radar: The Humane Society of the United States’ 23rd Genesis Awards.

Obviously, these awards give you a bit more to cheer about than just best actor and actress. They honor major news and entertainment media for producing outstanding works related to animals and animal activism. As we mentioned earlier, Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi will receive The Wyler Award, one of HSUS’ most prestigious honors. The honor is bestowed to a celebrity or public figure who has made news on behalf of animals.

Today, the official list of nominees in other categories — such as feature film or TV documentary — was also released. Grey’s Anatomy, Bones, and Law and Order: Special Victims Unit are up for best dramatic series, while Family Guy and The Simpsons are vying for the comedy genre.
