orlandojonesYou’ve probably seen Orlando Jones in any number of movies and television shows, but I like to remember him as the innocent 7 UP spokesperson with the “Make 7 — Up Yours!” campaign. Hilarious.

Anyways, in a new interview with Parade magazine, Jones talks about why he’s a pain in the ass to cook for and why going green is a double-edged sword. Here are some highlights:

On being a vegan:

“I’m like vegan raw, so I’m really a pain in the butt about what I eat. I’ve been pursuing it actively for 14 years. But, actually, I’m a weird vegan because I don’t mind cooking meat for my friends. I don’t really subscribe to the theory that meat is going to kill you even though I don’t touch it. I’m sort of in the “anything in moderation” camp.”

On pursuing the green lifestyle:

“It’s like a double-edged sword. On one level I believe in an organic lifestyle and recycling and trying to cut down on energy consumption and everything else. But I’m not really a fan of doing anything to the “nth degree” because I think economically it’s an expensive lifestyle which a lot of people can’t afford. I kind of feel like it’s better in moderation. The yin and yang to me is about balancing it all.”

Wow 14 years as a vegan and animal welfare hasn’t rubbed off on you! Man watch Earthlings or visit a farm sanctuary. I started veganism for health as well and it only took me about 2 years to realize all the other good reasons to be vegan. Off the slow track for you my friend.

Wow. 14 years and he has NO PROBLEM GETTING PROTIEN!@!@ wow….he must be so sickly…

    I’m am joking of course….

and im kinda surprised too that after 14 years he still serves meat. I know at first i felt that way but over time that defiantly changed….ah well.

Good for him at least for coming out of the vegan closet.

And he hasn’t even turned green!

That’s pretty bizarre, but raw vegan is extreme – I’m 80% raw and people give me the side eye. He’s not eating the meat – but the smell, eek.

I just always thought if you didn’t do it for the animals, you would eventually go back. He just showed me that’s not the case. Very interesting … [paradigm shifting] …
