Monday night the traffic was slow on Park Avenue in NYC as many celebs were getting out of their eco-friendly car services for the 11th annual NRDC “Forces for Nature” Benefit. Big names like Paul McCartney, Graydon Carter, Alec Baldwin, Diane Von Furstenberg, Seth Meyer, Matt Lauer, and many others were in attendance.

Designer, Stella McCartney and David Zaslav, CEO/President of Discovery Communications were honored for the work they do in helping to protect the environment and for being leaders in the environmental industry. Stella’s famous dad, Paul McCartney, said he was extremely proud of his daughter for holding on to her beliefs. “A love of nature has been instilled in [Stella] as she grew up,” he told WWDlifestyle “But I don’t want to take any credit. She’s a smart girl. When she came in to the fashion industry, she came in to Gucci, which is leather city. I was really wondering how long it would be before she’d have to cave in to the economic pressures, but she just hung in there.”

i’m sorry, it still pisses me off to no end that Stella McCartney is in bed with Gucci, not only leather city but FUR city…and not JUST fur, BABY SEAL FUR TOO!!!

i really wish she would move away from that blood drenched murdering company….

Basically she sold out. I have no respect for her anymore. Just as bad as her ex step mother.

I have NO respect for the both of you! If you are stupid enough to think that at this point and time that you can live in the kind of world we want,(cruelty free)with everyone respecting every living thing YOU ARE CRAZY! There was a time when Gucci would never have even looked at a animal free collection. Now she is not only the hottest desingner out but has the respect of smarter people than the two of you! BITE HER BIG TIME

Yes, Janell, I am actually “stupid enough” to think that we can live in a world where everyone respects each other and other living things. Gee how stupid of me to think we are mature enough to live like this. But because of closed minded people like you we don’t.

E, I really feel sorry for anyone who is around you and is just finding their way in animal rights & vegetarianism/veganism. I guess since you are sooo PERFECT, continue to throw stones. Here’s a tip, I hear that Ingrid Newkirk accidently swallowed a fly! BRING YOUR CROSS – WE CAN HAVE A PARTY! SHAME ON YOU! :(

    Not sure why I’m entertaining anyone who writes in huge caps (and the irony – calling me crazy whilst writing in huge caps) but let me just say;

(speaking slooowly) nooo, Janell, I did not say I was perfect. I am not. I do however think that I am not stupid (as you suggest) to think we all can live together in harmony without harming ourselves or others. I think someday we might get there. I’m on optimist.

And yes, I think Stella McCartney is not just “starting out” and by working with someone like Gucci she is selling out. If she were new I might cut her some slack. But she’s going backward… I’m quite nice with newbies. I even encourage them to eat organic meat if they won’t go veggie. I won’t judge them. BUT someone like STella? She’s no newbie. She didn’t have to go with Gucci. Except for more of the green. Not green living… just cold hard cash.

First of all, I find it funny that a pseudo- ecologist is trying to be an intellectual beacon to anyone. If you were knew better, you could understand that I was saying that even with the “McCartney” money and fame, nothing can have a built-in name and bring attention like the Gucci name. she is using them to get the message across. Plus thanks for being a huge hypocrite. Organic meat? It’s still suffering ! If you still can’t understand- have a child explain it to you.

I see you’ve settled down and are no longer yelling in caps telling us we’re “crazy” and to ‘bite her big time’

maybe if you’d set it as you did above without the tasteless insults you might have gotten somewhere.

yes, that’s right. I’m not a hypocrite but if someone refuses to stop eating meat I will at least encourage them to cut back AND go organic.

The sad truth that I have finally realized is we cannot get the masses to go vegetarian… However we can get them to cut back meat consumption, eat more veg alternatives and eat organic if and when they do eat meat. I don’t feel that’s hypocritical at all. My parents are older, they’re not going veg but they do eat less meat and organic at that. an improvement? yes.

I don’t need a child to explain that to me. Although my little niece does know typing in caps is a big no no :)

Have a nice day. I hope you find a cause for all your displaced aggression.

And I still agree with Steph that she sold out.

Gucci does’t give a crap about going green. They only care about doing what the latest fad is (going green) and that’s the sad truth. I’ve been green for 20 plus years and still believe Stella (as much as I love her designs and her father ;) Sold OUT.

The last thing I need is some extremely old hypocrite telling me about animal rights and ecology! No one in the mass media has given a damn about ecology until “stars” made it popular, but they are not sellouts! By the way, I’ll look into that all caps thing with my niece, after a break in our medical school classes and rotations!

If 38 is extremely old then so be it ;) But I feel young… and am not offended by your insults. Nor your all cap posts telling us to bite it.

If you’re serious about being in med school? Then you truly are a huge ass hypocrite.

So nice to have so many celebrities doing their part to take care of the environment. So sad that people want to snipe at them rather than encourage them.
