Until a vegetarian options exists (take note, Morningstar Farms) for monkey brains, the general rule of thumb is to not eat monkey brains. Actually, avoiding brains altogether (unless you’re the living dead) is probably a good idea; lest you want to draw the ire of PETA.
Pop star Jesse McCartney is discovering this first-hand after admitting that he sampled the Asian delicacy on a recent trip. He says, “It was a little chewy and a little bland. It could have been seasoned a little bit more to tell you the truth.” Hasn’t this kid ever seen Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom?
In response, PETA recommended that McCartney go VEG and use his head next time. “You’d have to be bananas to eat monkey flesh, or any meat,” said spokesman Michael McGraw. “When it comes to the ability to feel pain and suffer, a monkey is no different from chickens, cows and pigs. All animals deserve respect, which is why PETA promotes a vegetarian diet.”
