Rush Limbaugh’s PSA For HSUS May Indicate Presence Of A Soul

If you love animals, you may shockingly have something in common with Rush Limbaugh. If you love humans too — don’t worry, he’s still your polar opposite.

The famous conservative talk show host has recorded a series of PSAs for the Humane Society of the United States  — which should throw some right-wing groups into a tizzy again; especially after they freaked when Carrie Underwood voiced her support for the organization. We can just hear them now saying, “Oh no, is Rush supporting domestic terrorism too?! Who can we trust?” Grin.

Said the HSUS in a statement, “The animal protection movement should never confine itself to the Left or the Right in American politics. Opposition to cruelty and the embrace of the human-animal bond are universal values, and people of every background and point of view should find common purpose with the work and programs of The Humane Society of the United States and its affiliates. The animals need skilled advocates, and the cause deserves the widest audience. There are no political litmus tests when you sign up with us to help advance the cause.”

    I have to say I’m for one am shocked at this. Rush has always pronounced us animal lovers as “wackos”. If he has had a change of heart, that is wonderful. It will be interesting to hear the followup on this. I’m sure he will push his distinction of how dogs and cats deserve protection where as other animals are here for us to do with as we please. I hope I am wrong.

    we may be shocked, but the important thing is that he’s RIGHT! preventing cruelty to animals is not a political issue. As surprised as I was, I’m happy to see him standing up for animals. Nice job Rush! (and he even has a cat of his own!)

    trust me, i was shocked too! but how fantastic is it that he did this?! one day ellen the next day rush, i think it’s showing that more and more people care about the animal movement! rush has the capablilty of reaching his following that the humane society might not of been able to on their own, afterall, we’re all in this together! :)

    This PSA will go a long way toward helping animals and disproving the silly assumption that liberals have a monopoly on compassion for animals—simply not true!

    Compassion for animals is definitely a value that crosses political lines. What a nice reminder that there are certain things we can all agree on. Kudos to Rush Limbaugh for recording these PSAs.

    You’re forgetting that Dittoheads don’t think for themselves. If Rush sez it’s true, it’s true.

    An estimated 1 out of every 30 Americans are members of the Humane Society. Obama courted these 30 mill Americans. He gave them hope that he would adopt a shelter dog. Every shelter in America was offering up hypoallergenic dog choices. This week, all of my Republican family is emailing me their ‘ i told you so’ about Obama’s shallow promises. And even after three days, I still feel lied to, and disillusioned. Here is an opportunity for the Republicans to step up and regain the soul of America. How bright could Obama be to alienate so many of the very people he courted to elect him?
    Go Rush!

    First, HSUS is loaded with enough money to have paid Rush to do this. Second, the HSUS has nothing to do with the local Humane Societies who struggle daily to raise funds to support themselves, while the national HSUS has MILLIONS on top of MILLIONS. The national HSUS do not touch ANYTHING unless it gets them publicity and they rarely actually help animals hands on.

    So if you consider supporting a Humane Society, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE give to you local Humane Society and not the national HSUS.

    Nothing like an animal to warm a person’s heart!

    I actually believe that if more people volunteered at animals shelters, this world would be a much better place…

    Oh and doing this kind or work cures any depression one may have!

    Carly…I too was hoping that President Obama would adopt a shelter dog…but apparently this dog (“Bo”) was gifted to him by Senator Teddy Kennedy. Maybe Obama didn’t want to seem rude by refusing the dog.

    Probably to appease their guilt, the Obamas did make a donation to a DC animal shelter. It’s not the same as keeping a promise, but at least it puts the spotlight on adopting animals from shelters.

    Score two points for Rush…one for loving his cat and one for doing the PSA for the Humane Society. That’s all I can give him. LOL!

    Even a stopped clock is right twice a day. I hope Rush can extend his compassion to animals treated even worse than those in dog-fighting circles–the billions who suffer on factory farms and in slaughterhouses, sanctioned by the law he so admires.

    This does surprise me, but I’m pleased about it. Animal welfare/rights really should be a bipartisan issue, and this helps promote that idea. Come to think of it, if we really believe that, then maybe we should not be so shocked that a conservative supports animals.

    HSUS (The Humane Society of the United States) is nothing more than a domestic terrorist group extorting money out of people thinking donations are going to the cute dogs and cats they plaster all over their fund raising mailers. HSUS and Wayne Pacelle only want a vegan America with no pets, period. Look at their 2007 IRS tax returns posted on their site. They spent more on staff travel expenses than local humane societies, shelters, animal rescues, etc. Less than 4 cents of every donation dollar goes to hands-on animal care. Get the facts, look at their tax return (posted on their web site), and then decide where your money should be donated if you want to help animals. Shame on you Rush! Thank you.
