Jennifer Aniston Follows Through On Solar Panels For New Home

April 20th 2009

aniston_solarBack in May of last year, Jennifer Aniston let known that she was planning on making her new pad in Malibu as eco-friendly as possible. Now, thanks to some new aerial shots from Splash, it’s clear that she’s followed-through.

The pictures show two separate solar arrays on a full metal roof (which is excellent at reflecting sunlight and reducing cooling costs). It appears that even some of the chimney covers have solar cells embedded. The home also supposedly was built with recycled and organic materials — as well as extensive water-conserving landscaping. In total, the project is estimated to have cost somewhere around $15 million.

We’re too poor to actually publish the shots from Splash, but you can have a look at the high-res shots here.

  1. I think you need to be careful about including her as a green celebrity – don’t forget she is a major share holder in a bottled water company, lives in an enormous home, jet-sets all over the place, flies her hairdresser everywhere with her – this is not someone that should be branded as green because she makes a small token gesture of adding a few solar panels.

  2. None the less, it is quite positive that she keeps her word. The more celebs go green the better. This helps raise awareness and that is needed more than anything else.
